Here’s the schedule for the Master Games this weekend. I’m not sure this is entirely accurate as there are some weird ordering issues in the schedule. But it should at least be a rough guide for those of us want to go watch the games:

I’m guessing the Penguins are the Dunedin A team, and the Canterbury Old Wolfs are entered by the Canterbury Aardwolfs. The Gore gorgonites are presumably the regular Gore team minus their younger contingent and the Ducks are presumably the left overs from the Penguins team. The Jurassics will have their regular crew from Queenstown. Other than that I don’t have a clue.
Out of the teams that I do know a little about, I’d pick the Penguins as te top team, followed by the Old Wolfs, then Jurassics, then Gorgonites, then the Ducks. The Ducks should be a lot stronger than in previous years as the masters players down here have been rapidly improving over the past 12 months, so they may surprise a few people and knock Gore down a peg and perhaps even surprise the Old Wolfs or Jurassics.
February 3, 2010 at 2:06 am #14883KyleMemberPenguins are the Dunedin As, Ducks are the B grade team.
Penguins, Canterbury, Brisbane Rusty Blades and Melbourne Marauderers are in the A grade. The rest are in the B grade.
Brisbane won it last time, 1-0 over Dunedin Penguins. Dunedin Penguins should be stronger this time, but I believe Brisbane might have picked up as well. I’m not sure how strong Melbourne will be – last time they were pretty good, but who knows if they have the same players.
Nite Owls are half Australian players, half a bunch of randoms thrown in from around the place as they couldn’t get a full team together.
Saturday’s Penguins/Blades game should be worth seeing, as well as the final (could easily be the same two teams).
February 3, 2010 at 3:01 am #14884vpatrolMemberI think James VL has pulled out so that’s a bit of a hit for us oldies
February 4, 2010 at 12:38 am #14885imported_RyanMemberAh, so pools = grade. That’s silly terminology to use.
February 4, 2010 at 12:45 am #14886KyleMemberYeah, I did mention that to someone, but I think they were busy organising ten other things.
February 5, 2010 at 7:46 am #14887keithMemberThev owls have some good players and one dude out of the box from Sweeden
February 5, 2010 at 7:49 am #14888keithMemberNite owls are going up into A grade way too good for a B grade.
two games I played in resulted in 13 to 1 owls and 9 to 0 owlsFebruary 5, 2010 at 8:56 pm #14889imported_RyanMemberI’m guessing that means the Old Wolfs are moving down?
I played on a team mainly made up of Night Owls last night against the Old Wolfs and we cleaned the Old Wolfs up pretty badly. I can’t remember the score but it must have been 7-1 and the only goal they scored was because one of our players forgot which way they were supposed to be going!
February 6, 2010 at 12:32 am #14890keithMemberLooks to me like the rusty blades Brisbane guys will be at the top, they have a very good team beat the nite owls 6 to 0 this morning
February 6, 2010 at 8:46 am #14891imported_RyanMemberAnyone know the results from today?
February 6, 2010 at 7:35 pm #14892KyleMemberDn Penguins lost 5-0 to Rusty Blades. Oldwolves came down and had a 4-4 draw with jurassics. night owls went up and lost…. 6-0 or something. Dunedin Ducks lost about 8-0. Gore had a nice relaxed game losing 7-2 to Adelaide.
February 6, 2010 at 11:07 pm #14893imported_RyanMemberThanks for the run-down.
Sounds like those Rusty Blades must have some good players.
February 7, 2010 at 7:22 am #14894keithMemberHell yes they took out gold at 5 to nil.
