After Aston stood on his head to help the Stampede claim too victories this weekend.
I want to know who will be replacing him as head of Stats? The saves that Aston were pulling off really made myself (also head of statistics) very proud. I couldn’t believe it when Aston shook my hand I am not going to wash it for like ever…..I was gutted he left before I could get his autograph, I guess now he is famous he has no time for the little people?
June 7, 2010 at 6:17 am #15564Rhys MMemberI know, it was a great game, hmmm I heard teh young nick gloag os stepping up to the stats dept….. I once stayed at his house before he was famous, sixty minutes was on the phone before aaron asking if me and you were interested in doing a exclusive interview of what it was like to meet the famous ice hockey superstar
June 7, 2010 at 7:56 am #15565Azzy77ModeratorWell I hope this young Nick Gloag takes the role of head of Stats as seriously as Aston.
What stampede have gained in a great goalie, they have lost in one of the finest exponents of hockey statistics in the National league today, second perhaps only to me.I mean I would go on 60 minutes to tell my tale, but I am afraid with all his fame aston might not acknowledge that he once knew me.
June 7, 2010 at 9:32 am #15566imported_RyanMemberThankfully some smarty pants stuck a video camera on him to catch all of those statistics defying saves – apart from the one at 8:45 ” title=”Tongue” />

It’s quite short too as I had it attached to the netting, but when the puck hit the netting it knocked the camera off and so we got 15 mins of video ALONG the glass rather than through it. It then ran out of batteries as I hadn’t fully charged them before the game.
Where do you guys reckon I should position it? It can go inside the goal too as it’s quite a hardy little camera.
I was thinking perhaps if I attached it to the glass just above the boards, but off the side a little so that it isn’t directly behind the goalie but gives a view across the ice.
June 7, 2010 at 9:54 pm #15568ActiveMemberMan he doesnt look like he does much most of the time. I always thought the big sweats goalies get going was because of their heavy equipment.

[/quote:44bwu8uo]Lol, no. But playing a hockey game with open entry and multiple cameras pointing at him was probably a good hint that his game may be broadcast ” title=”Tongue” />

Out of a 30 something minute clip I got 13.5 mins of Aston actually doing stuff. I had to chomp that down to 10 mins to get it onto YouTube.

[/quote:1tlhag5f]I dunno how Stampede coaches view it, but Thunder coaches have previously asked not to have footage of their games put up.
I suspect all NZIHL games will ban this soon, if it’s not banned already on the entry conditions. Once sky tv gets ownership rights to broadcast footage they won’t want people filming and putting up anywhere footage of the games.
June 8, 2010 at 1:46 am #15575imported_RyanMemberWell hopefully they won’t care. Blocking people from trying to promote their sport seems kinda dumb.
I’ve been recording the Stampede games for years and they’ve never mentioned any concerns about it. The Thunder asked me not to record their pre-season and first games of the season but were okay with me recording their in-season games last I heard.
June 8, 2010 at 2:10 am #15576vpatrolMemberyeah i doubt that can be policed. Unless you are broadcasting for commercial gain, good luck. how many nhl clips are online for instance. Thunder just don’t want it done for scouting purposes.
June 8, 2010 at 2:24 am #15577imported_RyanMemberThe NHL are awesome when it comes to stuff like this. They’re one of the rare sports which actively promotes the publication of their content online, unlike more asinine sports like Formula 1 which have the exact opposite approach.
