Whats everyones picks for Nationals this coming weekend? Southern going to take out the lot? Do we have a team in every grade, I know we didnt have SNC last year
August 2, 2010 at 3:11 am #16110KyleMemberNo SNC grade, it’s been scrapped and they’re hoping to revive it via a club SNC only tournament.
U13s: These are my kids, they’ve been working hard and I have high hopes for them! Auckland were a different class last year, there was space between them and the other two teams, so if they bring back a similar level team they’ll be very good. Canterbury I’m not sure about at all.
U19s: Southern worked hard to win its first gold last year but has had less training time this year, as trials were very late. There’s certainly the talent there to back up with another gold so it probably depends on how they come together and if Aston’s knee holds out.
Women: Southern women were cheated last year when they had a victory and a draw against Auckland (who won gold), but finished on the same number of points. Last year the next determinant was goal differential, so Southern got silver. If it had been head to head matches they would have taken gold. That ranking system has now changed so head-to-head moved up and goal differential down.

August 2, 2010 at 4:47 am #16113Azzy77ModeratorAston you realise the asterix in an expletive in text is meant to censor it right? Its not some sort of youth hip way of writing it while still containing all the letters.
Unless of course you meant Fruck?

[/quote:1rfj86rn]I doubt that however I don’t think we should push away any potential christians who might otherwise have come to the forum. God loves the Edmonton Oilers by the way. He’s making them suffer like Job at the moment.
August 4, 2010 at 6:30 am #16117Rhys MMemberI think the majority of people on the forum shouldnt be bringing religion into ice hockey, i am proud of young astons intention not to offend anyone, christian, budhist or what ever by his writing.
There are some devout christians amongst us in the ice hockey fraternity

August 6, 2010 at 10:43 pm #16120imported_RyanMemberAny reports from the games?
I saw the Canterbury vs Auckland womens game last night. Quite lop-sided. Auckland has some big, fast, strong players who could clearly out muscle the Canterbury players. Canterbury started with Sarah in goal, but switched to Lyndal half way through the second period which helped quite a lot, but still wasn’t enough to hold off some of the stronger Auckland players. Brydie Gibbings was doing a good job weaving through the Auckland defense, but couldn’t get close enough to land a shot past the goalie. Some of the Auckland players looked like they were coast a bit, I guess saving themselves for their next game against Southern who they also beat quite convincingly yesterday (or so I heard – I didn’t see that game).

August 7, 2010 at 3:18 am #16122imported_RyanMemberOh, heh, forgot about that. 5 – 1 Auckland I think.
August 7, 2010 at 3:35 am #16123imported_RyanMemberSouthern Juniors won a rough game against Canterbury earlier today. Regan Wilson from Southern and one of the Canterbury players got game misconducts for fighting. Souther won fairly convincingly, although they didn’t help themselves much by getting lots of pointless penalities. I can’t remember the exact score but it didn’t look like Canterbury stood much of a chance.
The Southern Women vs Canterbury Women game was quite lop-sided too. Final score was 5 – 2. I’m not sure how Southern are going to go in their next game against Auckland though. They really don’t look like they have the same fire power that the Auckland squad has. There’s at least three players on the Auckland team with good shots on them, whereas Southern only has one (Susan Green) and Canterbury none. I suspect the Southern team will be able to keep up skating wise with Auckland at least.
Southern Peewees also cleaned up this morning apparently. I didn’t see that game and I’m not even sure who they were playing (Canterbury I think) but the score was 10 – 1 (or something similar).
