I like joes little quote about winning as a team, losing as a goalie.
I think Jaques Plante said it best when he said
“Goaltender is a normal job. Sure. How would you like it if at your job, every time you made the slightest mistake a little red light went on over your head and 18,000 people stood up and screamed at you?”
It is a pretty tough job and you know what it wouldn’t hurt if you guys gave us a little more emotional support!!
I mean we toil away by ourselves, making the tough saves, we only get credited for the ones that we screwed up our positioning and then some how saved ourselves by a miracle glove, or pad which is good but we probably shouldn’t to have made that save if we had positioned well to start with, really the best saves are the ones that look mundane, or even the ones we don’t have to make because the player misses because we have positioned ourselves well, so there is no shot for him.Kevin Constantine gives us this gem of a quote
“Goaltending is a suffering position. Your equipment protects you from injury, but not from pain, every time you go out there. And if you allow a goal, the red lights go on for everyone to see. But you get to be a hero too.”
And he is right my padding doesn’t protect me from the emotional pain that I feel as a goaltender.
But as he finishes but at the end of the day, we get to be the hero too.Just ask Joe, I think he will tell you about how he made me a hero the other night…….
And he is right,

As well as being a good place for practicing shooting it will be even more beneficial as a place to practice stopping. The midgets have a large team and no regular goalie. The SNC team has played over 1/2 it’s games with no one in net at all. The communal goalie equipment is a great start but Dunedin Hockey needs to foster more netminders, especially young netminders.

May 23, 2007 at 8:18 pm #4016JoeMemberThe aftermath. The puck is in the net, the light is on, the ref signals a goal, the other team celebrates, the home team fans scream and stomp and if a that isn’t bad enough Michalek is still in your crease. McLennan needs a hug.

“Bugger Off”

May 23, 2007 at 11:23 pm #4020JoeMemberWhat happens when defencemen try to play goalie instead of playing the body? Ask Kyle McKaren.

May 23, 2007 at 11:27 pm #4021JoeMemberIn case you didn’t get an answer back from Kyle McKlaren, here’s what Keith Tkachuck has to say about Defencemen pretending they are goalies.

[/quote:2au954h4]Msg to Sharks:
Aaron isn’t getting enough hugs. Perhaps instead of warmups, you could all just have a big cuddle before your next game.
May 24, 2007 at 12:15 am #4023battered_and_bruisedMemberI dunno about that one, the last time someone went to give him a hug, the guy got hit from behind and a fight started lol. Personally, you should just harden up Aaron lol. I got some hardening up pills for that (No, they are not the light blue, diamond shaped ones with a “V” on them either). Oh and Joe, there is one picture you didn’t put up, I’ll give you a hint, was during the Easton Cup, and he was pulling off his own version of the Ken Dryben pose. ” title=”Wink” />
