Also taken from the rink last night, and presumably not accidentally as it was in a player’s bag, was a cell phone. Thieves are unfortunately at work in our building.

This note is simply to remind all players of two things:

    1. Don’t bring anything into the rink that you don’t have to, particularly money/wallets and cell phones. If you have to bring them in, bring them to the bench with you or get a coach, parent, friend etc to hold them for you. Don’t leave them in the changing rooms.

    2. Name all your ice hockey gear in some way. We’ve previously had a player identify what he felt was stolen gear, that another person was wearing. Since they weren’t able to prove that it was their gear, we weren’t able to pursue it further. If it had been named somewhere, that would have made it real easy.

As a general note to any thieves if they’re reading this. The manager’s default reaction to a bunch of things is a two year ban from the entire rink. That includes all hockey, social skating, the stands to watch etc etc etc. That would be the minimum, he has muttered about life time bans to me a few times. That would be on top of a visit to the police station and possible appearance before the courts, long detailed conversations with parents etc.

Which might sound like hot air, but members of the ice hockey community have previously caught a thief who stole a player’s wallet. The thief was identified on the main street, photographed by cell phone, and the photo was passed around until a high school teacher identified them as a pupil and they were visited by the police.

The phone that was taken last night has been deactivated so hopefully it’s now a paperweight to the lovely individual who took it. Which makes the above penalties seem hardly worth it.

And lets be honest, its pretty stupid to steal Regans stick:

    a) You are never going to use it. The ice hockey community is tiiiiiight, so if u are on the ice with Regans stick, you will get killed by a flying hip check… probably from Rhys McAlevey.

    b) Regan has links and family ties with both the Japanese Yakuza and Triads of China, so dont kid yourself, they will find you, then kill your family, and take a finger a day until the stick is returned… if you dont need fingers, keep the stick but good luck trying to use it…

    c) You really need to take a look in the mirror and ask: “What is it I want from life?” “How can I be of benefit to create a better and more trustworthy society?”. Mabye take a quiet stroll along the beach and think deeply about the pain you are causing poor Regan. If he snaps his stick, he is stickless, and being an upcoming star of Dunedin, you are putting his career at risk. How mean of you. Shame on you…

    d) Jesus loves you, but not if you steal things…

    e) All of the above…

Stefan is still suffering from that slap shot that I put somewhere delicate on him last night. Like a sack of spuds groveling on the ice he was.

Bode’s coaching really does work. She was doing one-timers at practice the week before. I got all of that one <img decoding=” title=”Smiley” />
