Hi,
The opening of the NZ iTunes store today got me searching for NHL stuff. There’s some audio podcasts, but I really want video/tv.
Does anyone know of a good place for downloading/viewing daily/weekly highlight shows? Something moderately substantial, but not an hour a day show or anything.
Cheers,
KyleDecember 6, 2006 at 2:15 am #1895imported_RyanMemberAFAIK there’s nothing available like that. The IIHF showed the world champs online, but I don’t think the NHL allows it.

December 17, 2006 at 11:57 am #1897rookie19MemberHey guys hope all is well down there sounds like the summer leagues going well, which is good to hear.
Anyway, if u want highlights the best site in my opinion would easily be CIF-Forums (http://www.cif-forums.com/vb). I have been to almost every site with videos and nothing comes close, there are weekly highlights posted, about 5-10mins long each, and it will most definately keep u up to date with action round the league, and even some elite leagues like SM-Liiga etc.
So yea check it out and let me know what u think, most files are in WMV or JPG format and are done through rapidshare and sendspace etc so easy as to download.
As far as signing up is concerned, there are times during the year you cannot sign up. If this is the case hit me wit an email and il give u my password.
Peace,
Stiff.December 17, 2006 at 7:44 pm #1898imported_RyanMemberHow come you can’t sign up at any old time? Seems odd that a website would be trying to limit the number of users.
We can’t email you as you seem to have disabled that feature here. We can PM you though.

December 18, 2006 at 11:33 am #1899rookie19MemberHey bro,
Dont know what u mean bowt disabling, but all good.
With the site I just looked into it and it appears that currently they are not letting people register after the start of the season.
However, I think I am able to invite a few people to join, I dont know whether this will work or not but it would allow you to hav ur own account which would be heaps easier!
So if u could send your email and get kyles email adress through a reply I should be able to hook u up wit an invite through an email.
L8a dude,
StiffDecember 18, 2006 at 9:43 pm #1900imported_RyanMemberI think you probably chose not to allow people to send you emails when you registered. Either that or there’s a bug in the forum. The message shown when trying to email you is:

December 18, 2006 at 11:30 pm #1901imported_RyanMemberTest version of a new web page:
[url:1qrp1vrm]http://www.dunedinicehockey.co.nz/nhl/[/url:1qrp1vrm]To keep it updated I’ll either need people to keep sending me links or someone to edit it directly (quite easy and you wont need any knowledge of web design). I’ll probably put them into two seperate columns to jam more on screen. Plus we can have a series of pages of them.
Lemme know what you think.

December 19, 2006 at 12:47 am #1902KyleMemberHoly crap that penalty shot at the beginning of the first ‘plays of the week’ video is sweet. You could just see the goalie stand up thinking ‘what the fuck happened there?’.
December 19, 2006 at 1:04 am #1903imported_RyanMemberIs this the type of footage you were after Kyle? When I originally posted I must have misread your post as I thought you were wanting total game coverage, not just highlights. There’s stacks of clips on YouTube and they’re updated every week. So we can quite easily create a fairly thorough NHL videos section here with not too much effort. I’d upload them directly on to our own site, but I’m not sure that would be entirely legal, so we’re stuck with links for the mean time. There’s probably a bunch more on Google Videos, Yahoo Videos etc. but I haven’t bothered looking.

December 19, 2006 at 1:24 am #1904KyleMemberYeah, it’s not bad. A bit ‘bitsy’ – I was kinda hoping there would be a half hour show every night which I could find, but I guess that’d be too much.
I wouldn’t bother hosting them yourself, youtube does it so well, and if you hosted it yourself someone outside might link to it and say it’s a good place to go because there’s no adverts, and suddenly a thousand people might mess your bandwidth to crap.
December 19, 2006 at 1:32 am #1905imported_RyanMemberBandwidth wouldn’t be too much of a problem. I’d just need to chuck some advertisements on there and they’d probably cover the costs of paying for more bandwidth plus probably have money left over. It’s a moot point though as I’m not about to go copying stuff I’m not sure we’re allowed to use.

December 20, 2006 at 5:16 am #1906imported_RyanMemberHi,
I’ve expanded the videos section to encompass a bunch of non-NHL clips.
The new URL is:[url:2130sib1]http://www.dunedinicehockey.co.nz/videos/[/url:2130sib1]

I didn’t even realise rookie#19 was you Stefan!I like how the commentary is played over the music, a lot of those clips on Youtube remove the background noise, commentary etc and I don’t like that so much.
Don’t spose you feel like being the official “video clip editor” for dunedinicehockey.hellyer.kiwi?
