Who will be crowned Stanley Cup Champions this season??
The people who vote correctly will all recieve a brand new Hyde Street gutter-bred kitten of their choice. These cats are great at cleaning up scraps around the house, and wont annoy you by rubbing your leg as they are scared of humans after the Hyde Street Keg party. Their individual personalities differ, however to get some sort of idea, they are a mix between Speedy, Claps, and Joan the butcher… They are lean cats, partially from starvation, partly from good genetics, but mostly from starvation. They require very little feeding, if any at all – BONUS!! These cats are F**kin everyhwhere due to the disgusting slum lifestyle people on Hyde Street choose to embrace, so im happy to part with a few!!!
Only rule is for Ryan Wick – You may not log onto other computers and vote 20 times for the Canucks. Same goes for Tom and his Penguins.
May 6, 2009 at 7:19 pm #11144battered_and_bruisedMemberlol I only voted once and it was for the Canucks…If I win, how are you going to ship the cat to me?
I must say though, after last nights Canucks win, I’d say their chances of getting to the dance have gotten a lot better. They played a solid defensive game and didn’t take any stupid penalties…not to mention keeping a lead. And after Detroit’s loss, it appears that the Hossa signing isn’t helping them. Goaltending is not that great and Anaheim is playing surprisingly well. As for the Pens, Tom, you really need to wake up and smell to coffee man. They are not going to beat Ovechkin and the Caps. They are way to strong and Varlemov is playing amazing. Ovechkin is OWNING the Penguins right now.
May 6, 2009 at 10:00 pm #11145TomMemberIf Penguins win tonight they have a really good chance at winning this series.
Varlamov has been playing well but hes a rookie goaltender. Pittsburgh has a proven playoff goltender in Fleury. Washington won the first to games but only by one goal (home ice). So far Malkin has not be producing at all and im sure with home ice he will get back on the score sheet, same with Staal and Kunitz.
I remain confident for the rest of the series.May 6, 2009 at 10:30 pm #11146KyleMemberThe Capitals-Penguins series seems a bit over-hyped to me. OK, a lot over-hyped. I don’t see Capitals going all the way, even if they beat Penguins I’d expect Bruins to sort them out. If the penguins fire they should make it close, but ‘rookie goaltenders’ win Stanley Cups sometimes, Varlamov got them out of a big hole against New York, and Hiller monstered President’s Trophy winning San Jose.
Vancouver Chicago and Detroit Anaheim are both interesting series. Ducks making an improbable run on the back of a big rookie postseason from Hiller, and a top line that is probably the best in the league at the moment. Getzlaf working on a Conn Smythe trophy. Covering well for a fairly weak 2nd and 3rd line. Detroit aren’t firing, but if they do (I haven’t seen game 3 yet, so shush) they have the team on paper to beat the Ducks. I’m waiting for Osgood to tip back into regular season form and start letting in 3 – 4 goals a game.
With all respect to Vancouver, I hope Chicago gets through. That’s an exciting young team and they’ve revitalised hockey in Chicago, probably the best crowds all year. Be good to see their vision a couple of years ago with putting those young kids on the top line rewarded.
I ain’t seen Bruins/Canes at all yet, so no comment. Canes were big on the run into the playoffs, but lucky to get past New Jersey (Brodeur must still be pissed about that last goal) and Boston ate up Montreal.
I’d like to see Ducks win, but my pick for the final is Detroit/Boston.
May 6, 2009 at 11:15 pm #11147TomMemberThe caps are a transition team, you defend a transition team by filling up the neutral zone were getting caught to deep and the caps are making us pay for it. we need to put a man a bit higher in the zone to defend the odd man rush. That and the Caps are a realy good team on the PP so we gota stay outa the box. Everyone knows that they are just going to try and feed the puck to OV so why not have someone cover him? no one is defending him.
The bottom line is the Pens are not playing very good hockey right now and yet they are still only just losing. If they pick up there game a bit I have know dobuts they can bet boston next round. They have more talent than any team other than detroit.
Kyle, we all saw how good Mason was in the regular season but he was lit up by a team like Detroit. The problem with the Ducks is that they don’t have the depth to defend against a team like Detroit and Hiller won’t be able to cope. Pittsburgh, Boston, Detroit all have that depth which makes them alot tougher to defend.May 6, 2009 at 11:49 pm #11148Defense101MemberTom when you steal other peoples quotes from the internet that is called plagerism. The least you could do when defending your horrible 2nd rate team with quotes and hockey terminology from other people is reference them at the end of your post and give them the credit for the comments they made. This will be a valuable tool for you should you decide to go to University to learn some of the finer skills if your hockey skills don’t take you to the NHL.
May 6, 2009 at 11:56 pm #11149Rhys MMemberIts simple, penguins are overated
May 6, 2009 at 11:57 pm #11150KyleMemberI’m picking the bits with spelling mistakes aren’t quoted ” title=”Smiley” />
I don’t dispute the fact that Detroit are a better team through lines 2 – 4. That’s only going to make a difference if Detroit get their game together, or the Ducks stop playing as well. Mason’s bad playoff doesn’t relate to any other goalie. Hiller got two shutouts against St Jose, the Sharks regularly outshot the ducks by about 50%, and he won game 2 in detroit in triple overtime. He’s certainly looking like a playoff goaltender at present.
May 7, 2009 at 12:49 am #11151battered_and_bruisedMemberFleury a playoff goalie? Tom what league are you watching? Just because a team makes it to the finals once doesn’t make him a proven goalie lol. Osgood is a proven goalie, Ward is a proven goalie, Roy, Hasek, Joseph all of these guys are proven playoff goalies. Fleury has to be in the playoffs a little wihile longer to be considered a playoff goalie. I have no doubt in a few years he will be but it’s not right now. Sorry Tom. You lose on that argument.
Oh and the Pens don’t play until tomorrow. If they win game 3, they still won’t win the series…however, if they tie up the series, then I will give them a better chance. If they go down in either game 3 or 4, they will have no chance in preventing them from being knocked out in Washington. Sorry Tom, but you lose that one as well.
May 7, 2009 at 12:54 am #11152battered_and_bruisedMemberI agree with Kyle on the Caps getting to the East final, but no farther then that one. It will be the Bruins into the finals from the East.
The west is getting to be interesting. Detroit already down 2-1 in the series and I think the Ducks could pull the upset here riding on Hiller’s goaltending. It’s been done before. Look at the Oilers in 2006. 8th seed knocked off Detroit, San jose and Anaheim only to lose in 7 to the ‘Canes.
Canucks and Blackhawks is a great series so far. The Canucks played a perfect game in game 3 the other night and if they keep that up, they will get to the conference finals. I originally picked a Canucks – Red Wings series, but I’m going to change it to a Canucks Ducks west final with the Canucks taking it in 7 games.

Though I guess it’s my fault for following a topic about the playoffs.
May 7, 2009 at 2:16 am #11154battered_and_bruisedMemberlol if you want to pay for a flight down, then I’ll see what I can do.
Oh and made a mistake, the Pens game was tonight and the Pens did win on overtime. A nice shot from the blue line off a faceoff win. Still 2-1 Washington though and I don’t think the Pens will win game 4.
May 7, 2009 at 2:21 am #11155battered_and_bruisedMemberand another update, Carolina just scored in overtime to win and take a 2-1 series lead against the Bruins. Jussi Jokannin scored off a rebound caused by a giveaway in the Bruins end by Chara.

Mark, I think the fact that the work is completly unedited and full of mistakes is proof I did’nt copy it (as Kyle said) go check it on a plgarism scana. Secondly how would you justify calling pittsburgh a 2nd rate team, they went to the SCF last year and are on there way to doing it again. Were are the Flames right now?May 7, 2009 at 6:12 am #11157imported_RyanMember"Defense101":3o37p60x wrote:Tom when you steal other peoples quotes from the internet that is called plagerism. [/quote:3o37p60x]I believe when you accuse someone of something which is not true, it is called ‘slander’ (or ‘libel’, I can’t remember which). This will be a valuable tool for you when you fail university because you spent too long accusing others of plagerism instead of studying.
Oh, and GO the Cannucks!
