May 14, 2009 at 12:11 am #11236LumpyMemberA little birdy told me that Dunedin SNC has pulled out of Gore. Is this true??? Is Dunedin still playing in the Southern SNC league?
May 14, 2009 at 12:52 am #11237KyleMemberDunedin has pulled out of this weekend’s tournament.
I’ve asked the manager if we can get all the players together to see where they stand in terms of committing for the rest of the season.
May 14, 2009 at 4:03 am #11238imported_RyanMemberWelcome to the forum Lumpy.
Pity to hear the team are pulling out of the Gore tournament and potentially the rest of the season. That’s a big change from two teams last season (or maybe that was the season before).
May 14, 2009 at 11:23 pm #11239MaccaMemberHi yes Ryan is right their seems to be a lack of interest from players this year compared to other years.
There will be a meeting on Monday 18th May at 8.30 at the Dunedin Rink for all players who are interested in playing SNC in the SIHL to decide if there is enough interest or whether Dunedin will pull out of the competition completely.
So if you want to play make sure you come so your opinion can be heard.May 15, 2009 at 1:42 am #11240Rhys MMemberYeah, that seems to be a bit of a shame.
It always seems there’s heaps of SNC players at practices and that, but im guessing peoples committments and things like that stop them playing in the weekend kinda of sucks really
hopefully with a meeting there might be enough people out and about to play in these rounds
May 15, 2009 at 1:48 am #11241KyleMemberSNC runs quite a bit differently than other SIHL teams. Practices don’t really relate to playing SIHL.
And people feel much more free to play one round and then not play the next. This will be the first tournament in ages that we haven’t been able to front with a team at all, which is a shame.

either way its a bit of a shame
May 16, 2009 at 3:28 am #11243tom wilson loversMemberSNC means no contact remember that guys we dont want any more on ice incidents
May 16, 2009 at 8:58 am #11244imported_RyanMemberActually, it means non-checking.
May 17, 2009 at 7:47 am #11245tom wilson loversMemberprity much the same thing and i dont think anyone actually cares about the term used
May 17, 2009 at 11:14 am #11246KyleMemberI don’t know how many times I have to remind people as a referee that hockey is only ever non-checking, not not-contact. There is plenty of contact in non-checking ice hockey, not all of it is a penalty, some is good play, some is just incidental.
Non-contact is a meaningless phrase in ice hockey and people shouldn’t use it.
May 17, 2009 at 7:51 pm #11247Rhys MMemberIts just plain frustrating then isn’t it
May 17, 2009 at 10:06 pm #11248LumpyMemberYou guys missed out on a great tournament. Good, fast hockey with plenty of laughs in between.
From 2 teams last year to none this year??
May 17, 2009 at 10:52 pm #11249thirteenMemberyea come on dunedin, get with the game would you guys! its not hard to get a team down to gore, you all love playing so why wouldnt you go? why couldnt the beasts have entered or something?
on the other note, kyle is right, non contact isnt a real term in hockey its a miscommunication between the organisers and the players. its non checking. but in saying that it doesnt really matter because when people say non contact they mean non checking. we all know theres going to be contact but it makes it easier to explain to people if we just say non contact. no body gives a f*&k really except for the people in charge and nobody listens to them anyways so who cares -
