Has anyone thought that the Canty guys are used to the way the games are called in their home league and they know what will be calledby each respective whistle blower, which arguably gives them an advantage over the other southern teams.

[/quote:1vpm2sbl]That could be true. But it has been happening for years now. As long as the NZIHL has been running. So you would have thought the refs from canterbury would have shared the secrets with the other teams.
OR
The other teams would have picked up what the refs were doing. Which
Anyway the Canterbury refs teach all other refs in South Island so shouldn’t there be some level of sameness with them and their protege?

[/quote:382xm3w1]Y’know, Thunder have played under Paul several times now – last year and this year. I’d put good odds that next time they play under him they’ll end up on the wrong side of the penalty count.
Yes, you would think that teams would pick up on what referees were doing, but that’s up to the teams surely?

[/quote:382xm3w1]Aaron, you had most of the same training that I did from Jerome (I had a bit more from doing a national league game). Do you referee a game like Jerome? Do I? I think you’re overstating the influence of the mentors, most of our refereeing we try and muddle through ourselves, sometimes we’re lucky enough to get suggestions from upstairs.

July 29, 2009 at 4:53 am #12765KyleMemberYup. Though I had help from some players the first time. The second was all me.
I’ll see if I can cut it down to one fall this Saturday.

July 29, 2009 at 6:10 am #12770imported_RyanMemberTwo players were recruits from Tekapo/Canada I think. I heard something about the Stampede losing two players due to injury so they were able to apply for the extra players to join their team.
July 29, 2009 at 6:12 am #12771Jofa playaMemberoh right yea that would have to be correct because that ice black daniel smith broke his leg and of coarse with kevin barrs injury from erewhon cup, but i think that the injured players cant rejoin the team if they recover this season
