Up for grabs is one slightly used super league goalie (although I didn’t get used this weekend). I’m in the process of relocating to Dunedin and want to get myself some ice-time. It might be 2 or 3 weeks before I’m there however I figure I would try and suss something out before then. So if anyone knows of a desperate need for a puck stopper who likes long walks on the beach and getting caught in the rain, give me a yell
Cheers

We play in the Southern Ice Hockey League Senior Non-Checking grade and were playing in the Dunedin Ice Hockey League till the end of the season (week or so ago). We’ll also be playing lots of non-official games throughtout the year probably. I’ll send a link to your post to Mark Hareb (Beasts team manager).

There is always a need for goalies! The Ducks SNC has only played 1/2 of our games with a netminder. There is some confusion over whether the Premier goalies can (or want) to play so there is a possibility of ice time playing with =us as well.
Hey Ryan, do the Ducks play the Beasts as part of the SNC series?
May 28, 2007 at 4:52 am #4261Azzy77ModeratorJoe would you like to tell our goalie friend how many games you have lost because of having no Goalie to give him an idea, of how many shots he will be facing.
The problem is they merged the SNC and Premier practise as well, which could potentially mean 4 Goalies turning up on any given night, well that is nice for the players, that means a lot of rotation in 1 hour session, meaning not much continuity for the goalie.

Hopefully some non-championship games will be organised at some stage too. Seems silly to have two teams which have never played against each other.
Ryan,
May 28, 2007 at 4:55 am #4263KyleMemberThe Dunedin League is really short of A grade goalies – this is the grade that our Prem goalies play in. We’ve been covering four teams this year with only three goalies, since the Juniors goalie got a job on Tuesday nights and left a team short. We’ve had a couple of good goalies leave in the past couple of years.
That competition finishes in 8 days, but it should run again later this year – I’m hoping someone will jump forward to get the A grade up and running come July after uni holidays.
And the beasts already have two goalies, but the Ducks could sure do with one in the SIHL. We’ve played 5 games so far this year without, and one game with. 5-1 record though, which isn’t too bad. Aaron’s right, sometimes we keep the shots right down, but we had a good tournament against Alex the other week.
I was going to ask how come you played for a Canterbury team in the Easton Cup, but are playing Stampede. I guess that answers the question.
There are sure to be some pick up games in the next while to get you on the ice. Auckland Uni are bringing down an SNC A team in late June for a couple of games which we haven’t sorted teams yet for.

I still live in Canterbury however I am trying to buy a house in Dunedin. A number of factors led me stop playing hockey in Canterbury and join the Stampede. Other than the driving down bit, its been a good decision. I was just a fill in goalie for the Easton Cup. Originally it was supposed to be Andreas (Devils goalie). lol.
I’m happy to get whatever ice-time I can. I just don’t want to tick anyone off by taking time away from them or sand-bagging lower grades. Not saying I’m great or anything but it can sometimes be hard for lower level players to score. ” title=”Smiley” />
May 28, 2007 at 5:04 am #4265Azzy77ModeratorYou are a good Goalie Vince. I watched you from the other end in the Easton Cup final, you know I didn’t have to do anything.
The only thing is, I don’t care if Patrick Roy turns up to Prems practise I don’t like rotating, its nothing personal, and I am sure you understand,
but we probably should be able to work something out.May 28, 2007 at 5:07 am #4266vpatrolMember"Azzy77":1jjsjhyj wrote:You are a good Goalie Vince. [/quote:1jjsjhyj]Goalies like to play. I can’t remember the last time I watched my team play twice without being on the ice. Watching without my gear on was just weird. Perfectly understandable.

[/quote:ipsa5txt]I blame the Ducks defense for the low numbers of shots on net. Sometimes I have to take extreme measures just make sure our guest goalies stay awake during games. Know what I mean? I’m not coughing up that puck in the slot due to lack of skill — I had your interest in mind. And I agree, 2 goalies are enough for the prem practices.
Are you traveling to Gore with us? Do you like long walks in the rain too?
May 28, 2007 at 5:08 am #4268rookie19MemberBro… have u gota house yet?
Vince, can u tell me what song that was that they played in the changing room before the game with the goal horn in it? It was awesome.

[/quote:146vaasq]I looked at houses yesterday. Hoping to put an offer in. Already sussed a job out sort of. Until a house is done though, I have no where to stay so I’m not sure how long it would take before I’m down regularly.
That song was good eh? I thought it was a U2 song to be honest. It really sounded like them. Not sure though. Stacey would know.

Good news is that I brought my forward gear too so I can play out. I’m rather defensive minded as one would guess.
I got no trouble car pooling to Gore. I travel from Chch to Qtown for training so why the heck not.
May 28, 2007 at 5:14 am #4271Azzy77ModeratorJoe, you know I like any walk with you……
but yeah I am a goalie, I prefer walks in the Blizzard with no shoes.Hey you want me to bring you some more milk on tuesday night??
I knew you gave those two giveaways during that game just for me and I really aprreciated it, but just so you know you don’t credited with assists if they score on those.
Travelling to Gore with you ?? whose you the SNC team???
when? aren’t the prems playing in gore this weekend?May 28, 2007 at 5:19 am #4272JoeMemberWait, are you the goalie I talked to during the Stampede game #1? (I was shooting pics from the penalty box)
You must be. Yeah, you’re a good goalie.
But Azzy gives me fresh farm milk…(Azzy, I have no clue when we play again but I know Gore must be soon as well as a home stint against Q’town.)
Are the Phantoms up against you on Tuesday?
Did you see that photo series I posted of the Stampede player being denied on the doorstep by Ericson? I felt the Stampede players pain. Deeply.
