Huh you are right, they must have altered the schedule originally it clashed with every single game.
No one can get a straight answer out of the guy, apparently they aren’t associated with the Moose, but they are bringing the Moose. But who would know.
The game in Auckland in on a league Bye.
The game in CHCH conincides with a Red devils bye, so I guess they could be involved.
The one in Dunedin is the Wednesday before Thunder hosts the Stampede, so hopefully it doesn’t cause too much disruption to the training for the Thunder, and maybe we could try and get them to keep up the stands for that game? I mean if they can fill a stadium at $65 a ticket, we should be able to do it for $10 a ticket…April 4, 2011 at 11:49 pm #10385plod16MemberBut they have a huge budet for advertising which would soak up the extra $50 and possibly have a lower quality game!
I’d rather see us develop closer ties with the Aussies and maybe some Pacific Rim countries to play against.
There is already some interest from the Adelaide AIHL team to come over pre or post season to play against teams here. It’s cheaper to come here than go over and play against the AIHL expansion team in the Perth.
Maybe an AWIHL team could be enticed over here too!
Taipei expressed an interest in bringing an age grade team down here too.
April 5, 2011 at 6:18 am #10386vpatrolMembernot associated with Moose means not wearing Moose jersey’s but Moose is promoting it and recruiting the players according to their website.
I don’t think a throw together team is good competition. We need structured teams who play together regularly.
April 5, 2011 at 12:57 pm #10387imported_RyanMemberIt would certainly be amusing if they did agree to play one of the NZIHL teams, then proceeded to have their arse handed to them on a plate.
April 10, 2011 at 2:56 pm #10388imported_RyanMemberThere was some ambiguity in the PDF on the Moose site as to exactly who is coming. It is now quite clear that it is most definitely the Canadian Moose as they’ve updated their PDF to outline as such:

$2990
Includes flights,
accommodations and food
[/quote:16fnnr5u]Who would have thought that the cost to represent Canada in hockey would only be $2990?
I’m guessing “quality players” means you don’t need to be good enough to play at Junior level to represent Canada at hockey:
[quote:16fnnr5u]Team: AHL, OHL, Junior, quality players[/quote:16fnnr5u]And along with all that, they’ve still got the same “first come, first serve” policy:
[quote:16fnnr5u]Selection will be on a “first come, first serve” basis.
Players will be guaranteed 7 games and will have to
sign a Team Contract.[/quote:16fnnr5u]There was some debate earlier about who on earth the “famous” Kerry Goulet is. It turns out he’s also known as Kerry Gouche and used to play pro hockey in Germany. He has his own Facebook group:
http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=8647310830His other name was mentioned in the Moose’s recruitment brochure … http://www.canadianmoose.org/pdf/2011/R … ochure.pdf
April 23, 2011 at 11:46 am #10389KyleMemberThey’ve started trying to recruit NZIHL imports to fill the teams.

Where did you find that out from?
April 24, 2011 at 4:47 am #10391KyleMemberI have my ways. I guess it would save on airfares if you didn’t have to bring most of them in.
April 27, 2011 at 12:09 am #10392KyleMemberThe latest media release from Douglas Webber Group about the rink they’re bringing in.
April 27, 2011 at 2:22 am #10393imported_RyanMemberWhere did you get that from?

April 27, 2011 at 4:31 am #10395KyleMemberNote: “The games will attract an estimated 25,000 spectators to witness special effects with the tour being lead by Colorado Avalanche defender Kyle Quincey. Kyle has played more than 500 games in the NHL and is considered one of the best in the business.”
Here’s Quincey’s wikipedia page: 185 NHL games. 11 goals, 58 assists.

April 27, 2011 at 5:52 am #10397imported_RyanMemberWho would’ve thought a bunch of randoms thrown together would count as “the world’s top two teams”:
