ummm, what the hell was that? Take some old NHL clips and superimpose some writing and we buy into the idea? Maybe its just me but I thought the world champs means we have had international hockey in NZ. I don’t think I will be putting money down for a deposit on tickets
April 9, 2009 at 12:39 pm #10236imported_RyanMemberI see they’ve also registed the domain nzicehockey.com[/url:1qyqdfdw]
If the owner of the site is reading this … you should redirect your domains to a single domain rather than replicating the same site across multiple domains or you will end up with duplicate content issues which will mess up your search engine rankings.
April 9, 2009 at 12:55 pm #10237Azzy77ModeratorWhy did New Zealand not have that domain name sewn up?
Also…surely by now the Americans and Canadians would have issued press release about the games if their actual senior mens teams were coming.
And if they were the actual teams surely the federation in NZ would know something about it. But they don’t, they are just keeping eye on developments like the rest of us.

Does anybody know if there is going to be an Australia vs New Zealand test in August as the ODT claims?
http://www.odt.co.nz/sport/other-sport/ … nter-gamesApril 9, 2009 at 1:25 pm #10240Azzy77ModeratorAussie are now two divisons higher than us, so probably not…..Although I suspect by the end of this month we will be back in the Same division again, us being promoted and them demoted to div II
I hope so though that would be cool.
April 9, 2009 at 7:52 pm #10241KyleMemberAs far as I know it’s still the plan to have 2 games vs Aussie in August around the Pacific games.
April 9, 2009 at 9:47 pm #10242WindgatMemberI have spoken with Douglas Webber’s representative. They are trying to put an exhibition together. You are not going to get top class Hockey players for these matches.
We’ve also interfaced about providing the ice surface for the games. I gave him a lot of reasons why he needs to get real about what his money can buy before I can help him to have a surface that an actual USA vs. Canada act will be prepared to play. In my opinion the only such surface existing in NZ at the moment is Dunedin. Everything else will need to be imported. In the end they found an Ozzie company that is willing to meet the requirement for temporary ice and boards.
I’ve offered to broker a deal with the AJHL for proper Junior A teams to come and play (my opinion: this is better Hockey than the NHL most of the times.) Got declined. There is some smoke and mirrors here…
The target market for this “show” is not the Hockey enthusiasts in New Zealand. It is for the man in the street that has never seen a real Hockey player before. It is a show…
Still credit to them for raising awareness of our passion…
April 9, 2009 at 10:19 pm #10243ActiveMemberI was told the aussie tests are still on by Graeme Glass the president of NZIHL. (I think hes still president).
April 9, 2009 at 10:23 pm #10244Azzy77ModeratorGrant Hay is now the President of the NZIHF (The position Graheme Glass occupied)
Gunther Birgnel is and has always been President of NZIHL.March 17, 2010 at 3:46 am #10245Azzy77ModeratorSo like most of you I am sure I was eagerly anticipating purchasing tickets to this event, when they came up for sale in February (….okay not anywhere to be found)
First nothing on ticketek, and secondly I am forbidden to access there website http://www.nzicehockey.com
Presumably its not just me who they have decided to bar from their website? if it is I feel somewhat insulted that I am banned, but also somewhat proud, they think of me that highly I need to be banned.
So email it is, I email the dear fellows, and they inform me the games have been delayed to next year due to delays in manufacturing the ice surface…okay cool….he goes on to inform me that he has just got back from the North America where he was hosted by both teams???
I email him back which two teams? A. I am pretty sure there is not one house where team Canada and Team USA live all year waiting for olympics
B/ The olympics have only just finished so I am pretty sure neither team would be hanging round to talk to promoter from NZ.HE replies he was hosted by co-ordinators of both teams in Toronto and NY.
Upon closer inspection Team USA headquarters are in Colorado, and Team Canada are based in Calgary and Ottawa. Well not infeasible that a co-ordinator from the teams is based in those respective cities. It seems somewhat strange. Thoughts? Also if I recall the Moose were based in Toronto, and the New York Ice Pirates regularly expressed interest in travelling to NZ, perhaps it is them?
Anyway given Bettmans reluctance to release NHL players to Olympics I would find it highly irregular that he would release them for some game in NZ. And I doubt many players would want to come in their offseason
Anyway I hope this guy pulls off whatever he is pulling off, but wish there was a little more information about makeup of teams. Just thought I would let you know
He finished by saying he will keep us ALL posted, even though it was only me that emailed. So maybe he thinks two named things are corporations, i.e. Douglas WeberMarch 17, 2010 at 4:15 am #10246imported_RyanMemberLMAO
This guy is clearly an idiot if he thinks anyone is going to believe that rubbish.

March 18, 2010 at 1:08 am #10248ActiveMemberJust going back a bit, I see kyles suggestion of a pre season NHL game being the most likely We can build a new stand on the players bench side and a temporary stand on the curling rink and hold it in Dunedin.
