The NZIHF could have pulled in huge numbers of people if they went around pretending they had Team Canada and Team USA and made up a bunch of crap about players coming along. They don’t because they have ethics and morals. I’m not applauding people who don’t.

And yes he broke even on the first game all the rest was his,Christchurch and Dunedin,

That’s how we should promote our games. I’m pretty sure it’s kosher to just add “Team” in front of your country?

And I don’t the South African Rugby Union promised anything in way of a full strength squad, in fact I think they quite publicly said many players were unavailable. Oddly enough, they did have the appropriate amount of substitutes on the bench. Just sayin

There seems to be some sort of opinion out there that we don’t like people making money off of hockey games or that there’s something wrong with running big events like this outside of the non-profit realm. I don’t think that is the case at all for anyone here (certainly isn’t for me). The issue is a moral/ethical/legal one.
Liers and cheaters deserve to be punished for their actions regardless of whether they do good in the process.
A thief could give half their stolen goods to charity, but that doesn’t make them a good person. They’re still a dirty little thief. Same principle applies here.
The South Africa second string side arguement is a red herring because they were still the second string South African team, as vpatrol said chosen by the nation body of their sport Rugby.
The Canadian and American teams weren’t sanctioned let alone selected by their national bodies.
I have no problem with people profiting the sport of ice hockey in fact good luck to them, as long as they go about it in an ethical way, and not use misinformation to sell tickets
