MemberWhether or not it will eventuate and has great value remains to be seen, but they’re looking at a three game series Auckland – Christchurch – Dunedin. Late July/early August. Former NHL players and up-and-coming players is what they’re talking about.
(That’s my: I know more than you update). It would be three weeks before the NZ Winter games which is 17 – 21 August, 4 Pacific rim teams, also in Dunedin. Certainly keep the 17th – 21st August free that’ll be half a dozen great games of hockey.

ModeratorHmmm good work El Presidente…
Keep the knowledge coming, is this through NZIHF or you got another source?

ModeratorOkay So Doug and Webster or whatever their names are, are really amping up the promotion of these games they are giving away tickets if you become a fan of their page.
Incidentally at this point I should point out they have created a page, which you like, not become a fan of….I guess they mean you should like there page, they should hire a social network guru.
Anyways I did some snooping myself and I found out from Hockey Canada, they have heard nothing of this. So just confirming what we all knew.
There Ticket prices would be okay for the actual Team Canada and Team USA. But $80 minimum up to 150$ is pretty steep for the Moosejaw assasains vs the Florida retirees. And $2500 for a corporate table is ludicrious especially since you wouldn’t be able to see….its not a boxing match…..

MemberTheir page is laughable at best.
Their domain appears to have changed now too:

ModeratorThey plan on selling tickets for 550 people in the upstairs lounge of the Dunedin Ice Stadium. About 100 of the people will be able to see I guess….
They seem to be using both domains…

MemberThese guys are already the subject of one complaint to the Commerce Commission (by me). I’m tempted to make another on the basis of their facebook page claiming that “Team USA” and “Team Canada” will be playing.

MemberPlease click the “Report Page” link in the bottom left hand corner of their Facebook page … http://www.facebook.com/pages/Internati … 0636960854
If enough of us complain, we might be able to get it taken down.

MemberIve noticed now that they have “censored” the page-deleting all negative comments and we cant write on their wall now! I got sucked into this quite nicely but seems like a pure scam to me now…

Memberonly 299 friends on that FB page. Not a good sign for them unless those 299 are buying corporate seats at all 3 venues!

Memberit was pointed out that its no longer advertised as Team Canada vs Team USA but simply Canada vs USA.

MemberSo, an update for everyone here:
The guys from Douglas Webber tried to call Ryan and I, and they got through to Ryan after I refused to release my phone number. Ryan took the call and the guy essentially said “Well Team Canada and Team USA aren’t registered Trade Marks, and so there’s nothing wrong.”
Well, bullshit. That would be an issue for the owner(s) of those Trade Marks. This is an FTA issue, and that’s why the Commerce Commission is involved. Ryan and I are not the Commerce Commission.
The guy also declined to post here on SlapShot, even after Ryan pointed out that if they had legitimate reasons for behaving in what is, in my opinion, a fundamentally dishonest manner, then the whole hockey community would like to hear from them.
The fact that they’ve been repeatedly deleting comments questioning their incredibly dubious claims from their Facebook page speaks volumes as to their integrity.
Calling us was a thinly veiled attempt to get us to stop questioning their bullshit. Well, sorry, but we won’t, and furthermore, it’s out of our hands.

ModeratorFurthermore, everytime I post on their facebook events, letting the general public know it isn’t actually Team USA and Team Canada coming they delete my comments.
If they are not trying to be dishonest why would they remove those comments? It doesn’t make sense.
