I’m slowly re-uploading the various videos that have accumulated of Dunedin hockey games over time. They used to be hosted here on dunedinicehockey.hellyer.kiwi but I’m moving them to external services now (old advice from Kyle that I should have heeded a the time).
The first one I’ve uploaded is available here.

I’ve activated commenting on the videos so if you want to leave your own mark on the page then please do so. BTW, if you can remember what year that video is from I’d love to hear, I think it was 2005 but I’m not certain. If you have any videos (related to the DIHA) or intend to make any in the future, then feel free to upload them to a video hosting site and send the embed code to webadmin@dunedinicehockey.hellyer.kiwi. Then we’ll put it into it’s own page here on dunedinicehockey.hellyer.kiwi just like the one above and it will be shown on the home page.
For video hosting I suggest Viddler or Vimeo. However you could also use YouTube or any other site.
Once I’ve compiled enough videos, I’ll add a videos section for the gallery.
March 1, 2009 at 2:50 am #10037imported_RyanMemberCan someone confirm that the YouTube video is working better than the Viddler on below? All of my Viddler videos are coming out terrible from what I can see, but I just want to check it isn’t just my computer which is making them look so bad. From all the reports I’ve heard, the Viddler videos should come out a LOT better than the YouTube one, but so far that hasn’t been my experience ” title=”Sad” /> And every time I try uploading to Vimeo it just seems to reach a certain point and just sits there and does nothing after that ” title=”Sad” />

All the same, I’d be tempted to go with youtube. We should have our own youtube channel and you should be able to go to that one place for all videos that get uploaded, rather than having them under 10 different usernames. There’s a promotional aspect to youtube that we should use, which we wouldn’t get with vidller.

March 1, 2009 at 8:17 pm #10040KyleMemberNo I mean its dimensions are larger, I didn’t check file size.

[/quote:27knv33r]I meant the dimensions also. I haven’t checked the file size either.
I meant I made the Viddler the size larger (in dimensions) since it could be viewed at a larger size without becoming distorted.

[/quote:3idfhp8j]I’ve been pondering this during the week and have decided that I agree.
Any volunteers to sort out a DIHA YouTube channel?
I’m assuming we can give multiple people access to the same channel? Ie: multiple people can upload the videos? We don’t want to lump one person with the responsibility of uploading ALL videos as they’re a PITA to upload.
March 7, 2009 at 9:59 am #10043KyleMemberI’d suggest talking to Darci. I know she was planning to set up Bebo and other things for the club, youtube probably falls under that.
March 7, 2009 at 11:35 am #10044imported_RyanMemberThanks. I’ll get in touch with her then.
Although from what I saw, YouTube doesn’t allow multiple users to contribute to a single channel ” title=”Sad” />
I setup a pseudo-official DIHA page on FaceBook a while ago, so she may want to take control of that too.
