Pete took the longer break out between periods, in order to make it possible for the last few minutes to be stop time if it was close I think.
September 16, 2009 at 12:51 am #13784kiwihabsfanMemberYup – know anyone who is keen? Would be good to work on game specific drills ie. breakouts etc.
September 16, 2009 at 1:02 am #13785Azzy77ModeratorI would prefer 30 second-1.30 break, so team has chance to say, that guy is floating high covering him or Graehme when you you get the puck don’t pass to the opposition standing in front of net.

[/quote:199qy3pl]You can’t convey that to him by yelling at him when he does it?
These requests should be directed at Pete, I’m not sure he logs in here at all.
September 16, 2009 at 1:43 am #13787imported_RyanMemberI may come. Depends on my motivation at the time though so I wouldn’t rely on me to make up numbers.
September 16, 2009 at 1:52 am #13788ActiveMemberI need to pratice passing in front of the net to my own players rather than the opposition. Wait… maybe………… ?
September 16, 2009 at 4:06 am #13789KyleMemberAny results/game reports from last night?
September 16, 2009 at 4:11 am #13790Azzy77ModeratorI did tell Graehme during the game, he told me that as he was passing the puck he was thinking Graehme don’t pass the puck, but he just couldn’t stop himself.
Stars beat the bears last night 3-1.
I think the Game was tied 1-1 going into the second period. With a goal to Mike Sam top blocker corner from the glove side on me.
Not sure who got our goal maybe Mallory? Then the Stars scored one more goal in each of the subsequent periods. Was a pretty even game really.
I got MVP for our team, not sure who got it for the other team(bears)?Just in case people aren’t aware each game there are beer credits given to the MVP for each team. Last night Pete picked them not sure who is picking them when he is playing or not there.
September 16, 2009 at 4:59 am #13791kiwihabsfanMemberThere is pretty good interest among the B-grade players, but we would need a coach or two as well.
September 16, 2009 at 5:17 am #13792thirteenMemberim keen but i cant do this saturday as il b drunk but apart from that im here to help out
September 16, 2009 at 7:47 am #13793KyleMemberApart from this Saturday, which now looks like the ice is going to go to something else, the time would be Sunday morning, either at 9 or 10 (given its Wednesday, not this Sunday probably starting next week). It would probably cost $10/player, and we’d need 15 to go ahead with it.
We’d also need someone willing to coach, Blake sounds keen, he might need a stunning assistant.
September 16, 2009 at 8:52 am #13794Rhys MMemberDrunken thunder players………….Blake you are meant to be a role model for some younger members in the club who look up to you!
September 16, 2009 at 9:36 am #13795kiwihabsfanMemberPerhaps get Pete to send round an email? His previous one indicated enough interest to warrant going ahead with it. I spoke to Sophia after tonights game and she sounded keen to help.
Blake – your help would be much appreciated also!!September 16, 2009 at 10:46 am #13796imported_RyanMemberEven in the absence of a coach, having somebody bossy enough to sort drills would be ok. Not ideal, but better than nothing.
9am on Sunday is an interesting time to have it. I’d probably turn up at that time, it would be a good way to wake me up in the morning ” title=”Cheesy” />
September 16, 2009 at 10:59 am #13797imported_RyanMemberBullfrogs got dealt a thumping 11 – 2 (or thereabouts) by the Superfly tonight.
Not enough defense on the Bullfrogs and letting the Superfly’ers cycle around behind the defense leaving Kara in some bad situations with three on noughts to deal with. Forwards kept crashing in on the defense to cope and all turned to poop. Breakouts were non-existent but that’s not unexpected in the B-grade. We (Bullfrogs) had two new players who had never played a game before and had only been to a single practice, but they seemed to keep their head up and were doing a good job of marking the Superfly players as best they could, they’ll rapidly improve over the next few games and some of our older hands like myself will (hopefully) gain some fitness as the season progresses. So despite a bad score line I think the Bullfrogs will do okay. The Superfly appear to be the John McGlashan team who have been playing together all season so probably won’t improve as rapidly as the Bullfrogs as the season progresses.
Superfly looked a bit wonky too. They had too many players trying to skate the puck straight up the ice. They were good at passing it in front of the net, but too much head down skating for them to see their team mates skating up the ice (as opposed to across which would make it a lot easier to receive a pass). If they face a more experienced team (Midgets maybe?) I could see their tactics failing as the defense will simply push them wide and leave them out in the cold on the boards and having to just dump the puck.
