In case anyone is confused, I merged the two DIHL topics together. I probably shouldn’t have posted a separate one in the first place.
September 23, 2009 at 8:03 pm #13814ActiveMemberStars beat the FYC last night 4-2. Must say I was impressed by how much the juniors have improved individually and as a team because it was hard work getting goals against them. Liv has improved lots as a goalie as well. A most enjoyable game
September 23, 2009 at 10:47 pm #13815KyleMemberAnyone got any results from the other games?
September 24, 2009 at 12:31 am #13816ChrisMemberThe Jets beat the Bears 4-2. The Jets were missing a few key players – Pete Lamb, James VL and Simon Christos – and so only two subs were to be had for the entire game. This made for a very tiring but satisfying run.
Netminder Toby Shuck was outstanding, really keeping the Jets competitive by fending off constant attacks by the likes of Mike Sam and Steve Jackson. Defenseman Marc Pesant spent about 95% of the game skating, only resting twice for short periods before heading back out to demolish the opposition. Can’t remember who got what, but Callan McLaughlin had a beautiful goal in (I think) the 3rd period.
Well done the Jets ” title=”Smiley” />

on a different note, its a damn good competition we have going here, good work pete on making 4 even teams in the a grade. im impressed with the FYC they played prettty freakin good the otheer night. both our games so far have been hard won. its good timesSeptember 24, 2009 at 10:22 pm #13819Rhys MMemberActually funny thing blake i was thiniking exactly that even though our teams been beaten in all games so far its been bloody close solid good hockey! Good work on creating a fairly even leauge pete
September 24, 2009 at 11:50 pm #13820imported_RyanMemberBullfrogs lost 4 – 0 to the Chiefs.
Bullfrogs were a little stronger than last week. Two of our brand new players didn’t turn up, but two of our more experienced high school aged players did which improved our performance a bit.
The Chiefs were a much weaker team than the Superfly were which made things even easier than last week for us (the Bullfrogs). However the Chiefs had an extra player on their team this week from the A-grade. I’m not sure why there is an extra player being stuck on teams like that, but it did seem to help the Chiefs a lot as Dan Dilkes (the A-grader) was very good at setting his team up and breaking through our defense.
Does anyone know what the result of the Midgets vs Superfly game was?

Competition has been very good. Our (Jets) game against FYC was good fast hockey, and our game against the Bears was excellent, although it might have been more one-sided had we had our stars Christos, JVL and Pete Lamb. From what I have seen, both FYC and the Bears are very competitive teams, and I imagine the Stars will be even more so (I can see those Sykes brothers giving us hell).
So yeah, I completely agree with Rhys and Blake, looks like it will be an excellent competition. I’d also like to mention the level of organisation, which has been much better than previous DIHLs I’ve played in. Well done Pete.
