[b:3upjrgdp]Week 6: Superfly vs Bullfrogs[/b:3upjrgdp]
Bullfrogs are hot off of a less than usual beating last week and will be fired up to step it up another notch and take down the young Superfly team on Tuesday night. The Bullfrogs are missing power man Jon Kitchen up front, but Keith Dickson will be back this week to add a little more experience to the front line. Superfly will continue their consistent quick paced form with their considerably younger lineup of players.
My pick: Two goals to Bret Dougherty, one via a rebound and another on a rebound. One goal to moi via a breakaway and another to Jaydee Cabral coz she said she wants one before the season finishes. Two goals to the Superfly, not sure who’s going to score them though.
[b:3upjrgdp]Week 6: Midgets vs Chiefs[/b:3upjrgdp]
The midgets are like a pack of small furious Tasmanian devils. Ferocious and out to destroy anything in their path. The Chiefs don’t stand a chance, they almost lost to the Bullfrogs last week and the Midgets are running at full-steam, full-fitness and nothing is going to stop them in their quest to out-skate, out-pass and out-muscle their much larger, older competitors. My pick: 5 – 0 to the Midgets.

[/quote:3muwvnfm]Not too far off Ryan! We weren’t too shabby eh!! Everyone stepped up tonight & I think Superfly enjoyed having to work for it… they certainly were impressed at how much we had improved from the first game…
October 20, 2009 at 9:49 am #13875Rhys MMemberI heard the Jets Vs FYC game was the one to watch, I heard many differnet reports of the game-any one want to give a first hand account of this rather intense and phsycial game
October 20, 2009 at 9:50 am #13876imported_RyanMemberFinal score 2-3 to Superfly. One to David Richards off of a sweet pass from yours truly and Bret scored one from a breakaway (I think).
Superfly are much faster than the Chiefs who it is highly likely we will be playing next week for the finals (unless they can beat the midgets by 20+ points tomorrow). Yay for the wooden spoon round!

[/quote:1n0jhk6i]Yeah, a bunch of little childish dicks decided to behave like idiots. Would be nice if a few of them got suspended, but I suspect it won’t happen.
October 20, 2009 at 10:06 am #13878Rhys MMemberoh ok, I heard that some senoir players were the ones who started and threw punches?
I believe chris laing instigated two fights along with mike I think i was told from the thunder who was also sent from the ice for fighting?
no matter what was done I believe these players would of had or should have had the maturity to with hold from that sort of activity as they were allready winning?
October 20, 2009 at 10:23 am #13879imported_RyanMemberYep, that sounds about right. I didn’t take too much notice, I just saw Mike swinging punches and Chris somehow became involved. I was surprised the FYC didn’t lose a player from the game either as they were returning the punches to Mike. There were a few other scuffles as well, but I wasn’t paying enough attention to know the details.
I thought you were on the ice at the time. I was up in the corporate box thingy (or whatever that big room is called) above the rink and people were mentioning your name as if you were on the ice at the time.
October 20, 2009 at 8:53 pm #13880AnonymousInactivethe reffing of the game last night where the juniors versed the jets were appauling. larry wasnt great but who on earth was that other knob jockey. as a spectator i was highly dissapointed. Rhys Mcalevy and jamie teasdale should be permanently band also with the psycho on the jets team who was 30 + fighting some small 14 year old. if i ever see that reff out of the rink hell be chopped liver i tell you what.
October 20, 2009 at 8:57 pm #13881Hockey_GoonMemberI was at that game and I must say I was very dissapointed with the behaviour of some of the members of the FYC team it was an embarsement Rhys Mcalvey instigating fights and acting with no class at all. It was also a particular shame to see rhys pulling gestures at other players perhaps if he focused on the game he wouldnt lose every week. very disapointing. Something also has to be done about the officiating in this league those reffs were also to blame for letting the game get to that point.
I would also like to add that I am a big supporter of fighting in Hockey but those players would get killed I am talking about Rhys, Teasdale etc. Fighting under the right circumstances is fine but there was no honour shown from the FYC team very dissapointed.October 20, 2009 at 9:00 pm #13882AnonymousInactivethose reffs were awful i agree maybe if they got someone who actually knew hockey it wouldnt be so awful and more people would want to play in dunedin. those reffs one word……………………disapointing
October 20, 2009 at 9:23 pm #13883aston head of statisticsMemberthis rhys mcalvey character sounds like a down right WHO RA and is influinsing younger player to partake in his tom foolerry i think he should be banned from the dihl
October 20, 2009 at 9:31 pm #13884Jofa playaMemberI dont think that ryan should be calling people “little childish dicks” after what i can gather from what happened in the game.
October 20, 2009 at 9:50 pm #13885vpatrolMemberBlame the refs. That will solve all problems. We all know they are supposed to act like the parents to all the players to ensure they play nice.
October 20, 2009 at 9:53 pm #13886ThundersbiggestfanMemberwhats done is done you cant blame the refs and expect the turn out to be defferant
October 20, 2009 at 9:53 pm #13887Jofa playaMemberIm very dissapointed to find that chris laing one of our mighty forum administrators has been involved in such a gross act of unsportsmanlike conduct towards younger players in his own social league. I hope that if the younger players are to be banned that so extreme action is taken against the older players such as chris for instigating such behaviour
