I’m sick and hence stuck at home at the moment ” title=”Sad” /> I’d be really keen to hear the results from the games tonight ASAP please ” title=”Smiley” /> Particularly how well they do against the Rangers!
I said to a bunch of people I’d be providing video streaming of the game, but that wont be happening now ” title=”Sad” /> Unless of course someone else has filmed it, in which case just send me the footage and I’ll sort out the rest ” title=”Smiley” />
Ryan,
April 28, 2007 at 7:03 am #3345KyleMemberI can’t help with the Rangers. I left the dunedin-gore game at the end of the 2nd period to go pick up my son.
Dunedin was up 11-1. 8 Unanswered goals in the 2nd period, they were really starting to fire.
April 28, 2007 at 10:28 am #3346MichaelMemberFirst game (Dunedin vs Gore) was a walk over, about 14-1, not really sure on the final score. Second game (Queenstown vs Gore) was also a walk over, final score was 11-2. Last game (Dunedin vs Qtown) was close evenly matched game end result 3-0 to Dunedin.
April 28, 2007 at 10:36 am #3347imported_RyanMemberAwesome ” title=”Smiley” /> Congratulations premier team guys!
Apart from their last game against Dunedin when they were missing all their Ice Blacks, I think that’s the first time the Queenstown Rangers have lost a game in quite some time – maybe four years? Anybody able to confirm that?Ryan,
April 28, 2007 at 11:50 am #3348KyleMemberI’d be curious to know if any of the Ice Blacks were there. A couple of people I talked to were wondering whether any would come or if it would be the same team that they played a couple of weeks ago.
Either way, 3-0 to Dunedin is a strong result, nice job prem team.
April 28, 2007 at 12:12 pm #3349imported_RyanMemberBad news … I just heard from Bode (premier team coach) that the Rangers did not have their best players there ” title=”Sad” /> Oh well, maybe they’ll get a chance to have a crack at them next time. Still a good result nonetheless.
Ryan,
April 28, 2007 at 10:52 pm #3350battered_and_bruisedMemberThey actually did have one Ice Black, but we shut them down and out hit them and out played them. It was a hell of a good game. How can it be sad? The last result, we beat them 7-3. They were a vastly improved team from that game in Gore. And who cares if the Ice Blacks weren’t there? We know we can play thier level so we will be good for the next time when they are there.
April 29, 2007 at 2:56 am #3351rookie19MemberYeah!!! What a game!!!
I agree Ryan, we definately out-hit them, which gave us the momentum we needed.
Rangers were full strength apart from Simon Glass and Simon Wilson I think, but they had recruited some pretty good european players for the game (mabye czechs?), so to be honest, this result is awesome, its really saying something about ice hockey here in dunedin.
Toby had an amazing game in goal, making some incredible stops, and definately earning the shutout, facing tough shots from the likes of Jamie Moore-Carter and some other big name players.
I think though, as ryan said, the difference was that we out-hit them early and kept the intensity through the entire game, and we are really starting to work well as a team!
Thanks to everyone who came to watch and support, having a good crowd really builds some excitement!!! ” title=”Cheesy” />

That’s a totally awesome result then ” title=”Smiley” /> Congrats ” title=”Smiley” />
Ryan,
April 29, 2007 at 6:54 am #3353matt aMemberYea was an awesome game, think they were missing Brett Speirs aswel i think, but still, an applaudable effort from the boys. The first game was a bit messy, but goals kept goin in. I think me, darcy and ryan wick bore the momentum of many of the gore teams sizeble girth, i have a swollen jaw and an earache, meow, and darcy has 25 cracked ribs and may have to have all 21 digits removed, tough luck buddy. Our hearts, prayers and intact digits go out to you. And your missus.
Peace
SPLIFFApril 30, 2007 at 3:01 am #3354Azzy77ModeratorI not posting this to take gloss of the win it was a good hard win (I am gutted I wasn’t invovled, perils of goalie iguess) , just for factual accuracy.
But Braden Lee, Simon Glass, Simon Wilson, Brett speirs definitley weren’t there, how bout Laurie Horo? was he there?, and is Stephen Reid playing for queenstown his year because he wasn’t there either. Before i conclude Let me reiterate that was awesome win, I mean that team was stacked with stampede players, czechs, a formidaable team, and it was the best match I have ever seen at Dunedin, including NZIHL final couple years back, and anything else ever played there, Toby stood on his head, and came up with some clutch saves (makes hard for me to get back in to starting line), And the boys really stood up and played a really physical game including the inliners, who lets face it everyone assumed would cry their way to bench on the first hit (just kidding you guys I still love ya even if no one else does)
I even saw lady killer Steffivechkin make a big hit, it was clean even though he got binned for it
Peace out

April 30, 2007 at 9:25 am #3356TomMemberYeah why Steffivechkin was it because it looked like Ovechkins hit on Briere ?
April 30, 2007 at 11:18 am #3357rookie19Memberhaha, nice photo Tom, u young guys will be the next Crosbys and Ovechkins here in Dunedin, so keep training hard!!! ” title=”Cheesy” />
U need to change ur quote round tho! It reads “Crosby < Ovechkin"!!!April 30, 2007 at 11:24 am #3358Azzy77ModeratorSteffivechkin cos his visor, and that flancy european style of hockey, he likes to play.
The word on the street(Reeven keeps telling us) is that Ricky got called Ovechkin by the czech dude in the rangers, hes way off, I mean Ryan looks nothing like Ovechkin
