As a note, information on the Easton Cup (8 – 10 May in Dunedin) has been added to its web page: http://www.dunedinicehockey.hellyer.kiwi/easton-cup/.

As a first option, existing teams (Dunedin Juniors, Dunedin SNC, Dunedin Oldtimers, Dunedin Open) should enter. If those either get full, or are not able to enter a full team, contact Larry Martin (adult@dunedinicehockey.hellyer.kiwi) and he will wrangle together teams.

I’m not sure how often Larry checks the forum, so while people should feel free to use this topic to organise teams, look for a goalie, etc etc, don’t post here asking to be put in a team, contact Larry on his email.

So if I was willing to play on a team (hint hint hint) that requires a goalie (hint hint hint), I would be best to talk to Larry instead of saying, “my name is Vince Mitalas and I play goalie and would be willing to play on a team that needs a goalie”?

Christ. Some people you kick them out, they keep coming back over and over again.

Do we need to put up a sign?

(Umm, probably email Larry as well as posting here which you have already done).

Oi!  I wasn’t kicked out.  I just decided to leave partly due to a strong pushing force being exerted on me. :-[

Old timers may need a goalie. You must be nearly ready to fit in that category any way Vince

If I grow some more grey hair I might be able to play old timers.  Simon and I both if he loses a bit more hair.

I heard that they got a bit annoyed with you trying to flash your glove at _every_ shot that came your way – high, low, five hole, blocker side.

I think it was flashing his glove during the handshake afterwards that really did Stefan in!

Stefan was really good in goal until he let on that all one had to do was shoot low on the ice then after that every tom dick and Larry was able to score on him regardless of his flashing gloves. Perhaps when he gets to oldtimers age he will have learnt to keep his mouth closed

People in NZ, and especially south island, have this great habit of making goalies look really good in general.

You shouldn’t need the goalie to tell you were his weaknesses are, just watch him.
Also at least shoot at the holes, so many goalies here can make saves by not moving….and if you are really advanced shoot where the holes are going to be…

Hahaha but Active you are a pretty boy, and always try shoot high glove on me, so glove saves were simple with my cat-like reflexes. Some critics such as Ryan Wick have compared me to a young Roberto Luongo, others disagree and say more of a Patrick Roy in his prime… everones entitled to their opinion I guess.

And the thing about goalie to me is even if I let in 8 goals in a game, but make 1 really good glove save, it has all been worth it… if only I can figure out how to stop Steve Jackson…
