I think there should be 6-7 old bastards staying with you, dont know the exact numbers but it will be the bulk of the team. We play against each other on thursday nite apparently so we could finalise numbers then.
July 16, 2007 at 3:16 am #5448rookie19Memberok someone please confirm how many OLD bastards are playing that would be good, so we can reduce the number of beds if needed. Then if more turn up, u can just share beds, could be interesting.
peace and godbless tekapo

[/quote:1kmx1f90]We are? When?
There’s 11 Old Bastards, but Nigel is staying out of town, so 10 in Tekapo.
July 16, 2007 at 3:41 am #5450JoeMemberleftright means we are playing/scrimmaging Thursday night in Dunedin at practice. Bode has asked us more experienced players to go easy on the younger more tender players. I don’t know if I can do that.
I heard to play on the old bastards a mustache is mandatory.
July 16, 2007 at 3:46 am #5451JoeMember1 more thing.
Drunk. No protection. A room full of hockey players. I hope he knows what he’s doing.

July 16, 2007 at 4:00 am #5452ActiveMemberYes. Make that 8. I think Shane and Sam are staying somewhere else. Ill find out. As you get older it gets less important to count right or write english proper.
July 16, 2007 at 6:28 am #5453JoeMemberMy son Paul is traveling with me, so count me as 2 people.
Does that mean we’re back to 9?
And do we have a goalie?Joe
July 16, 2007 at 10:45 am #5454KyleMemberAndre had two options as goalie, and one sounded keen, so I’m sure he’s got it sorted.
July 19, 2007 at 11:34 pm #5455JoeMemberHey I thought the old Bastards were looking pretty sharp last night. I think the Young B*itches will have to bring their A game if they want to beat us.
There was some talk of trades and migration between the teams but I really want to play AGAINST Wick Nasty. He’s been on all my team all-season and I think he needs to learn a thing or two about respect. And holding his booze. And how to grow a proper beard. And anyway I’m an Old Bastard at heart (and body). Also, something most people don’t know, but I’m Wick Nasty’s half-dad. Kid needs to show some respect.
I love you son, good luck this weekend, you’ll need it.

July 22, 2007 at 4:05 am #5456ActiveMemberHey kids Ive just come back from an excellent weekend away at the Erewhon cup. The Dunedin Prems were pretty well outclassed in the final by the Ice Blacks, I mean the Stampede, I mean the Queenstown rangers (there were 7 current ice Blacks on the roster) 8 – 1. There was a distinct difference in skill levels.
But the rink was awesome, ice was great, weather wonderful, Apres nightlife good fun including a mechanical bucking bronco, great fun hockey and not a check in sight in the prelim rounds. You Beasts missed a great weekend and were probably competive with about three of the other teams.July 22, 2007 at 9:40 am #5457imported_RyanMember[size=3:hhgpwc90][b:hhgpwc90]Results from Erewhon Cup 2007[/b:hhgpwc90][/size:hhgpwc90]

[/quote:2yg7cfjg]That’s a little harsh. The Rangers were all over the prems, but some of our guys were playing at a pretty good level. Stefan did pretty well and got some shots off, James was pretty good, and Pav (sp?) caused them problems and got the goal on a breakaway. Simon was pretty well shut down, I figure the other team are used to playing with him and targeted him.
Those QT guys though, they’re not only good all over the ice, but they’re drilled to crap. They always knew where players were going to be, they made Aaron’s life hard with great cross ice passes in front of the net, and they didn’t make many mistakes. It was a pretty physical game, which everyone seemed to enjoy.
Best goal would have been Jenel’s breakaway against them the day before. She had a really good look at it but the goalie stopped it. SIHL women played really well this year, they’ve got a really good team and they cleaned up Maniototo – Mallory got a big goal – and played well against Queenstown A. Their goalie – Mary – she was on fire in that game. Megan’s achievements on the ice were overshadowed by splitting her jeans on the back of the bull.
Old Bastards played OK, but had a pretty mangled first game where we got from 1-3 down to 4-4, before letting in two goals. We just weren’t together as a team and our defense and offense was very patchy. We started to get it sorted when playing Dunedin prems, which was played at a much better pace on our part, and then cleaned up well against Gore.
The new rink was very cool, the ice was incredibly hard, but it wasn’t as cold as Naseby last year I thought. Really lovely though, and once they’ve fixed up a few things like putting something down over the concrete in the changing rooms, it’ll be great.
