To right there Puck lover, this event had the potential to become very dangerous I do believe that if it was to go forward then Keith would have to come up with and sort out a very serious health and safety risk prevention scheme and pit forward some safety regulations. If this was to go forward i think Keith or one of his collegues should post something about rules, regulations, and safety equipment needed to partake in these such events. Thanks guys. I just dont belive this is a safe idea. If some safety regulations were put inplace im sure it would be great fun and a awesome sport to get involved in.
June 23, 2009 at 9:11 am #11030Rhys MMemberHmmm yes, exactly right there team this event does have the potential to become very dangerous if the correct safety measures and procedures arent followed corretly
I have offered to become team co-ordinator, a main part fo this job would be looking in depth greatly at the skating safety issues in depth for the team and spectators alike. i have been involved with event mangement and production in the past focusing on safety aspects for the event and instigation of procedures and policys into the venue.
we have had a brief chat about safety for this team so training can begin.
partcipants must wear at all times while on the rinnk surface must have, wristguards, helmet, gloves, coveralls along with tight skates and have signed a liability disclaimer form before getting onto the ice.
there has also been talk of shows involving fire
participants in this must be wearing all of the above, however also inluding
flame retardent overalls As an electrician I have seen flame resistant barriers and flame resistant clothing catch on fire and burn quite happily. Flame resistant means it will be difficult to set on fire but it is possible, it also means it is likely to self-extinguish when the heat source is removed. Flame retardant is easier to set on fire compared to flame resistant, it should also self-extinguish without the heat source. Os whihc makes in this case the flame retardent overalls the better option for this
also people must have a balaclava style portection also made of flame retardent material for their facial area
along with that during the show there must be fire fighting equipment available for instant use with people trained in its use, the equipment must be rated to fight AS/NZS 1841 Fire Extinguisher Standards,
also we are expecting have on call first aid personal prefferably trained to have PHEC 9pre hospital emergency care) standard that can look after most things untill the professionals arrive
Anyway as you can see we have a somewhat extensive plan in place, anyone that wants to see the whole plan, please pm me and I’ll email it to you as a word attachment
July 12, 2009 at 6:09 am #11031keithMemberHi guys,
There is extreme skating in the usa now.
all this pc has made me take a double take as other people on bikes, skis pedals, water sport do such moves but skating including figures it is dangerous.
not to talk about fire hoops.
The surface is the rink ice the jump I made is synthetic and about 2 meters long. Neil is ok with doing it on the ice, at the rink.
I was awaiting someone to contact me but all we have is chit chat.
I had contacted the Olympic group headed by Eion Egar and tried to do a gala but they have been on again off again so I lost interest untill now.
We can try to get this kicked off.
LOOK UP EXTREME SKATING IN THE USA.
I have been intouch with that guy and talked on the phone some months ago.
The idea still needs to be developed and as suggested ideas, saftey and future needs to be drawn up.
Cheers
Keith Dickson
The group would be used for ice shows of which we have at our own rink and in the other centers.July 12, 2009 at 6:59 am #11032imported_RyanMemberWelcome back to the forum Keith ” title=”Smiley” /> (second post in 12 months)

Was good to catch up last night, was wondering when maybe you wanted to organise a meeting to start some trainings, like off ice and a general team get together as you mentioned last night?
July 14, 2009 at 7:23 am #11034keithMemberHi team mates again,
I have been talking to Diana the coach and we are going to nut out some stuff to try.
Then I need to ask Neil if we can try the jump out.
KeithJuly 14, 2009 at 11:40 pm #11035thirteenMemberhey keith, id be keen to try but it wont be until after hockey season as hockey is more important to me than doing some sweet moves and i dont want to dislocate my shoulder again
