It looks like the puck touches the goalie’s stick and then gareth pushes it into the net. Difficult to tell though from so far away.

If that’s what happened, no goal. That’s a rebound, can’t score off a rebound in a shot.

well it was initially called as a goal but then the ref that was standing on the red line decided it wasnt? when you watch it in better quality and frame by frame it doesnt appear to touch the goalie or his stick at any stage.

Yeah I can’t see, but that’s what came to mind watching it, and I can’t see any other reason why they didn’t award it. Did the referees give a reason why it wasn’t given?

Without knowing why the ref called it off it is difficult to say. I would personally award it as a goal, though the ref may have ruled it as a second shot on which is illegal. As for the puck going backwards, that never happened. I cant tell if it hit the goalie, it is very hard to tell with this quality footage. is it possible to post a better quality video?

i like it how both officials on the line say its a goal

Technicalities, they both saw it go in, without a doubt but they both may have missed a technicality. Though if its that tedious it needn’t be worried about and the goal should have been awarded

I thought it was a rebound on first look.  Should have been an easy call for the near side ref.  Guess not

That’s what’s unusual about it. It’s a fairly technical call though, might be the linesman was actually mentoring a new national league referee, who knows.

Does anyone know or can anyone find out who the linesman was that called it off. The officials names will be on the official score sheet so check with the team coordinator coach or manager for that
