MemberI’m no expert on sound, but the fact that you can hear the music clearly all around the building, but not hear the announcer seems silly to me.
If someone could explain why two different sources of sound going through (as far as I know) the same speakers vary between ‘quite good’ and ‘pretty useless’ I’d be keen to hear it.

[/quote:1vwjljzq]Cheers guys. The event went well from my point of view, a few no shows but largely everyone fronted up and did what they said they would do, and more, which made my job a lot easier. All the volunteers were very professional and devoted a lot of time to the event.
We will look at bidding for a future tournament (we’re the only rink in New Zealand that can host worlds, as it requires six changing rooms) in a couple of years if people are supportive.
We don’t yet know what the club will get in terms of financial benefit, but the plan is to split it with volunteers via ice time credits so hopefully everyone benefits, and the club can plow it back into equipment and coaching and referees etc.

MemberUnfortunately, for the Seniors the IIHF provides 300K Swiss Francs to put on the tournament.
For all other grades – womens, U20, U18, they provide about half of that. Yet you have to provide all the same services, hotels, buses, airfares etc etc. Which makes no sense – same costs, less income.
Last time womens was held here apparently the NZIHF lost 60K as a result.
So we won’t be doing womens unless that policy changes.
