Uh, you can (belatedly) follow the Ice Blacks in Aussie here – http://www.iihf.com/index.php?id=587. Lost their first game 6-3 to Iceland, and second lost 2-0 to Mexico. I think those were their best two chances of a win. NZ plays Australia tonight, 8pm local time.
James picked up a penalty for interference and 1 shot in game 1, nothing in game 2.
I think Iceland are better than a lot of people give them credit for…
They only got beaten by China in penalty shootout…
China has won its first two games in penalty shootouts…
But you are right about Mexico…..that was out best shot at winning..
Yeah, that’s not too bad.
Add the fact that the… U18s beat Aussie for the first time a few weeks ago, that’s good progress.
Shame they didn’t beat Mexico though, I guess they’re facing relegation again now?
Also, while it looks like he didn’t get much time (no shots, penalties etc), James seems to have played 3rd D pairing. Someone must be injured or something, there were 7 D, only 6 on the scoresheet.
And now that they lost to Spain, they have been dropped back down. On the bright side though, James got 2 assists.
James must have got some good time with the top line, that’s Hay and Glass he’s assisted on.
5 – 4 is a good result against Spain. Spain has a professional ice hockey league I understand. 4 goals on 17 shots, Spain had 41 shots to get 5. NZ were also 2-1 up on China at the end of the first before slipping in the 2nd and 3rd. Bummer about the relegation – that’s the second time they’ve gone up only to go straight back down again.
