Was talking to James last night. They’ve got five training weekends, for which they have to cough up a bunch of money to get the north island guys down. Three are apparently here in Dunedin, and they’ll have intra-squad games, so we should advertise that, I’d definitely come down to watch the ice blacks play an internal game.
Then come March, assuming they make the final team, they’re away for three weeks – two weeks of training in China and another week in Australia at the World Champs.
It’s a big commitment so if nothing else, give them all the support you can. And y’know, don’t injure them seriously!
November 7, 2007 at 9:37 am #7513imported_RyanMemberIf anyone hears when their training games are on it would be handy if post the details here. Last time they had a training game here in Dunedin they never told anyone and so we didn’t get to go watch ” title=”Sad” />
Ryan,
November 7, 2007 at 9:34 pm #7514Azzy77ModeratorAre you guys sure they want us there??? Maybe they are closed trainings.
Especially knowing Ryan he would film the whole thing and upload it, and then all the other teams could figure out ways to beat them1!!!November 7, 2007 at 9:37 pm #7515KyleMemberI went to the training they had here this year with my kids and chatted to the manager for a while. He didn’t seem to mind us being there. I complained that they should advertise their internal game… or indeed respond to the email that I sent them asking when it was!
I’m sure we can wrestle the camera off Ryan for a couple of hours ” title=”Wink” />

[/quote:1yvcrniu]Lol, good point about the filming, although I wasn’t planning to. The last one I heard about wasn’t closed as such, they just didn’t tell anyone it was on. I can’t think of any reason they’d care about people coming to watch though.
I saw training games for the U18 Team Canada a few years ago and they advertised for spectators to come and watch. They didn’t promote it as such, but if you kept a look on their website they eventually posted the game times and you could just wander in and sit down with your pop corn and coke. Was quite handy since I only lived about three blocks from the rink ” title=”Smiley” />

November 8, 2007 at 11:34 am #7517Azzy77ModeratorYeah I just was specualating on the reason they don’t advertise…. I was serious about camera work though…. I mean the all blacks advertise the ones the ones they won’t people to come to, but the yhave a butt load more that no-one is allowed to, well at least thats what they told us, on evidence from france you would have to wonder?

[/quote:2em2i92c]I’m guessing the All-Blacks have a problem with other teams spying on them. I somehow suspect the Ice Blacks may not have that issue ” title=”Tongue” />

January 17, 2008 at 8:35 pm #7523ActiveMemberA birdie told me Mallory Handcock has made the NZ womens team trip to Rumania. Pretty good for for someone who started about three years ago. Watch out for that dodgy coach Mal.
Congragulations.January 18, 2008 at 7:04 am #7524imported_RyanMemberOh yeah, I meant to post a congratulations about that ages ago. I must have forgotten.
Congratulations Mallory ” title=”Smiley” />

January 25, 2008 at 1:10 am #7525KyleMemberJust as another note, the NZ U20 Team beat hosts Serbia yesterday, 5-4, and South Africa this morning 7-3. Good job. They’ll now be promoted up to Division II.
It’s all looking up for NZ ice hockey at present.
