Is there any inline hockey happening in Dunedin this summer? If there is nothing organized now, one of my kids may be interested in organizing something. Any tips on likely playing sites, and are there any nets available?

There are nets, but they’re a pain in the neck to transport unfortunately, plus I think cones, a rubbish bin or anything similar is more appropriate since you presumably won’t have any goalies and a full sized hockey goal is a bit big without them. I have a mini-net kicking around in my room somewhere that can be used, but I only have one of them.

Kavanagh College gets my vote for best place to play. The surface is okay (for crappy asphalt) and there’s plenty of room and a total surrounding of nets.

George St Junior schools is a better location, but the court area there has shrunk quite a bit over the years and you are far more likely to hit a passing car with a puck when playing there and the walls are solid rock.

    I’ll definitely turn up if something is organised <img decoding=” title=”Smiley” />
