actually Chris, a lot more people find it amusing than you would think. many people in fact find it far more amusing than your rather “concisely stated and subtle point of Western philosophy” which is in fact rather [u:jex7y67d]UN amusing[/u:jex7y67d]……..
And your [b:jex7y67d]”pointless, tongue-in-cheek faux outrage”[/b:jex7y67d] either isnt appreciated it is a serious matter

[/quote:6whwdohw]Lol. I doubt it.
Maybe next year, but with much stricter control over who plays.
April 14, 2011 at 5:41 am #16869Rhys MMemberwell it was a silly idea in the first place wasnt it, nothing riding on it, plus the history of players involved…….um yea good
April 16, 2011 at 11:50 pm #16870ActiveMemberCorrect me if Im wrong but doesnt the club have guidelines to good behaviour and Im pretty sure this incident breached them. What happened was a bunch of drunk players turned up looking for a fight and ruined what was meant to be a fun game of hockey for the others and someone associated with Kings pissed on the carpet in the front entry and this sort of stuff pisses me off. Dont friggin use alcohol as an excuse .
Ups to Rhys for being man enough to clean up someone else’s pee so the game could start.April 17, 2011 at 2:38 am #16871imported_RyanMemberYep, quite a few rules breached I believe. I assume action will be taken regarding the incident, but haven’t heard anything official on that front.
April 17, 2011 at 4:32 am #16872KyleMemberYup, coming next week.
April 17, 2011 at 5:01 am #16873Rhys MMemberI would actually be interested to see as the large majority of people playing weren’t actually club players as to what the DIHA can actually enforce since the players involved are not governed by or dictated to by the DIHA
If as Ryan said several of the rules were breached, [u:3jifn2k3]WHY[/u:3jifn2k3] was the game then allowed to start in the first place, clearly either because of lack of understanding of them on the referees behalf or perhaps the procedures/ rules developed proved quite clearly woefully inadequate for the situation

[/quote:2ap3ep50]This is a good point, but from the sound of it the referees did the right thing in calling off the game. I’m sure they’ve thought about it in hindsight, and have an idea of how they’ll handle a similar situation in the future.
As to how the DIHA can punish non-DIHA members – it can’t, except through the normal procedure of civil suit or filing a police report if the association believes it has a case. However, as the DIHA is 1/3rd owner of the rink, it’s clear that if the DIHA has a mind to, it could arrange for offending players to be banned from the rink by way of a standard trespass notice.

April 18, 2011 at 3:07 am #16876imported_RyanMemberAlso bear in mind that the people running the event are volunteers. They’re not required to know the ins and outs and procedures for everything. Dealing with drunk people before a game isn’t exactly something you expect to happen, so it’s quite probably they just hadn’t bother looking up or remember any rules relating to that sort of thing and didn’t really know what to do at the time.
There was a clear check for alcohol before the game, but the heavy drinkers consumed a bunch of mints before the game to cover up the smell.
