Video of another Russia phenom Mighty Maxim.
Skill wise, he eats Siddy for breakfast, and when you talk about scoring big goals, hes had his share.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GOzlV04zIbE
You know you love it Ryan
May 9, 2007 at 9:40 pm #3860ChrisMemberI loved his overtime goal against the Rangers last week. He’s a machine, totally, but better than Crosby?

Pfft good one Stefan, Crosby is way more skilled !!!
May 10, 2007 at 1:02 am #3862rookie19MemberEasy boys, Crosby is good, Maxim is great.
Ovechkin and Afinogenov both kick crosbys ass for real.
Maxim is a big part of the reason the Sabres moved on against the Rangers, however Crosby couldnt step up for the poor penguins, so they are now golfing! I know on paper Siddy looks hot, but there are tons of players far more skilled than him. Hes probably the most effective player in the NHL, but I must say he lacks the flare of a lot of other players.Just my opinion Tom, ur sticking with your boy Crosby, thats good, im just testing your faith!
Peace and Godbless Afinogenov and the Sabres, and mabye Crosby too.
May 10, 2007 at 2:32 am #3863battered_and_bruisedMemberHe is a one off. Won’t ever have another good season after thisone. SOrry to burst your bubble. Oh and did I mention that the SENS WILL WIN!!!!!
May 10, 2007 at 2:49 am #3864JoeMemberUhh wasn’t Afinogenov benched last week for playing like a selfish albeit highly skilled Russian?
Russian phenoms are like freak shows at the three ring circus, incredibly skilled at the seemingly bizarre and yet useless when it comes to team play. Look up Bure. Wow. Great TV but nearly useless as a team player. He was fun to watch as long as you weren’t hoping your team would win. We can discuss Yashin next.Let me ask you this, If you’re the coach of an NHL team and you are in the conference finals who would you rather have on the bench, Affy or Sid? Which player is going to take the hit too make the play? Which player will play through pain and injury to help his team succeed?
Stiffy, you’re being seduced by You-Tube clips. Affy and Ovvy are brilliant You-tube stars but they are way too flamboyant and individualistic to lead an NHL team to the Cup.
Stalin killed the notion of team play in Russia; all the boys from Russia really want is to put on a big show so they can make the big bucks to buy cheesy western luxury goods like fur coats and “look at me” cars so they can date tennis stars. They don’t need to win to obtain their lifestyle so their heart’s are not in the game when the real hockey begins and things start to hurt. The last great Russian player was Larionov. The Professor was brilliant and knew how to play on a team and, according to Scotty Bowman, was a critical component in the Red Wings most recent Stanley Cup glory years.
If you have a Russian fetish, Larionov is the man.
May 10, 2007 at 4:40 am #3865battered_and_bruisedMemberWow I think Joe just shut you the hell up steffi pooh lol. And I totally argree with Joe. Damn communist bastards!!!!! Never wanna play to win, just want the money. Look at Fedorov. Another prime example. Good for Burke to ship him to the Blue Jackets where he will go no where.

The man was playing with a broken foot !Also the pens will kill the Sabres next year they have so much young talent like Crosby, Stall, Malkin (even a good Russian), Whitney, Gonchar and perhaps even Christensin. The Pens rock ecspecaily Crosby he is way more skilled than any Russian player !!
May 10, 2007 at 8:30 am #3867rookie19MemberCanadians…
Crosby is good, i think he is an awesome player with a ton of skill, but just feel he lacks something. The NHL is selling him as their new Gretzky, as with the drop in tv ratings they have apparently experienced (according to the hockey news) in the last few years, they need a star that people will want to watch. Hes basically being sold as the face of the NHL now.
Ryan, you say it was a one-off season, Afinogneov scored some ridiculously big goals for the Sabres last season, i think he will continue to do so. But guess we will have to see how the Senators series goes!! I would like a Canadian team to win the cup for sure, but would probably rather Buffalo over any other team at this stage.
The reason for my kinky russian fetish is they ARE more fun to watch. They hype the game up, and the fact is im not an NHL Coach behind the bench, and will probably never be (i might coach Ryans beloved Canucks u never know), so i guess this is my reasoning for liking the faster, more skilled game they play. They seem to have that explosiveness that many other players in the NHL lack.
But ultimately, until Crosby scores a goal as big as Mighty Max’s in game 5 vs. NY, im gna have to stick with the Russian phenom.
Peace and Godbless Afinogenov,
STIFF #19 (after the Great Joe Sakic, a canadian, and my idol growing up!!!)May 10, 2007 at 9:01 am #3868TomMemberA Hockey Video I MADE OF Sidney Crosby.

How can you honestly say Afinigenov has more skill than Crosby i mean look at all of his amazing goals.
May 10, 2007 at 10:31 am #3869imported_RyanMemberAnother cool video Tom ” title=”Smiley” />
Is the original file better quality?
If so, it’d be great if you could email it to me at webadmin@dunedinicehockey.hellyer.kiwi[/url:18y6w9ht] and I’ll upload it here to the site. I can handle up to 20 MB files by email. I said a while back that I wouldn’t be uploading copyrighted stuff like this, but I’ve changed my mind now. I can always pull it down if the copyright holders get pissy at me ” title=”Tongue” />Ryan
May 10, 2007 at 10:43 pm #3870TomMemberI emailed it to you the orginal looks slightly better but not much.
May 11, 2007 at 3:45 am #3871ChrisMemberCrosby is beyond a player, he’s a force of nature!

Original was only 320×240 though, I was hoping the original’d be 640×480 or higher then it’d look awesome ” title=”Smiley” /> The sound quality on the one you sent me was definitely better though.
Ryan,
May 20, 2007 at 10:02 am #3873battered_and_bruisedMemberNow here is the real question. Will he get his name on the most prized trophy in all of sports? (It’s also the toughest to win. I ask anyone to challenge that one when you have to play over 100 games of the 2nd toughest sport in the world to win it. Taking bone crunching hits and putting your body in front of 100 mph pieces of frozen rubber, doing that and growing the all mighty playoff beard. Getting all wet just thinking about it)No he will not. Why? BECAUSE THE SENATORS BEAT THE SABRES!!!!!!!!!!!!! I told you that didn’t I Steffi-Pooh? The Sens were able to shut them the hell down and then some. Sure he scored some clutch goals, but in the end he couldn’t clutch it enough lol. Probably doesn’t make sense but what do I care? THE SENS WON!!!!!
