Auckland vs Canterbury 16 – 1August 15, 2008 at 4:47 am #9342KrissiMemberSouthern Peewees lost to Auckland 2 – 6 this afternoon
Juniors lost 15 – 0 against CanterburyAugust 15, 2008 at 7:07 am #9343imported_RyanMemberWow. It looks like the Auckland peewees are pretty strong this year then.
August 15, 2008 at 7:35 am #9344Rhys MMemberMidgets won 7-0 against christchurch today, unsure of who scored, wasnt told in the text
August 17, 2008 at 6:35 am #9345rookie19MemberRegan just txt me, Midgets won Gold easily, good on them!!
Apparently we now have another NZ player in the club, unconfirmed, but i think Regan Wilson made the New Zealand team. Hes been training hard and if true, this is very well deserved!! Well done Regan and the Southern Midgets!!
August 17, 2008 at 7:53 am #9346KyleMemberPeewees beat Canterbury 5-3 in their third game, and drew with a really good Auckland team 4-4 in their final game, picking up the silver. Ben Roth got MVP of the tournament.
Midgets looked really good all tournament, both games they beat Auckland 2-0, great to see them defend their gold medal and a few more Dunedin players in the team.
Juniors struggled the whole tournament. Best they did was within about 8 goals, they played their last game late this afternoon. Phil Bennett got a match penalty for pushing a referee this morning.
August 18, 2008 at 4:14 am #9347thirteenMemberthat call on phil was rubbish, the ref accosted him and phil pushed him away, phil was cleared of any wrong doing by the judicial panel, most of whom thought the linesmans actions were completely unnecessary
August 18, 2008 at 6:22 am #9348KyleMemberThat’s good to hear Blake. From how you described it Phil was reacting to the referee as much as causing problems himself. Shame he still missed the rest of that game. How’d they go last night in their last match?
August 18, 2008 at 10:10 pm #9349thirteenMemberagain shafted by the refferee, it was ryan, normaly he does a great job but it seemed that most of his calls were in favour of canterbury. score was 16-0 or something. there was a fight at the end of the game due to my boys frustration. harry turned savage and was a main figure in the brawl! haha he threw a punch at dale argyle missing the ref by milimetres and clocking his target square in the face. braavo

But is that an example a thunder player should be setting. Haha
August 19, 2008 at 4:27 am #9351battered_and_bruisedMemberWWWWeeeeeeeelllllllllllllllllllllllllllll Should it though? I mean lets be honest, The style of play from Coach Sinclair is mostly based on the mid 70’s Broad Street Bullies style of play. For you non hockey people, that is the mid 70’s Philadelphia Flyers who won back to back Stanley Cups in 1974 and 1975 with a rough and tumble style of play lead by the legendary Bobby Clarke. Like how I used “Style of play” 3 times in there? Oh wait it’s 4 now.
August 19, 2008 at 5:35 am #9352thirteenMemberdamn right its the right style of play, if only the team had that kind of aggression throughout the tournament rather than just the end. on a serious note though its rather difficult to do well at nationals, playing against such good players its is important to have a proper build up. this is definitely something we lacked this year, things will be better no matter who is coaching net year. we will win 2009 right boys?
August 24, 2008 at 6:44 am #9353ReganMemberSouthern women take the gold.
Good work girls.
