[quote:1xeyrd19]Captain of the Ice Blacks, Cory Down, said … “This was the biggest home crowd that we have ever played in front of, I think that freaked out some of our younger players who wanted to do their country proud and be the game breakers.”[/quote:1xeyrd19]
Huh? And what about the world champs. only a few months ago?
I watched a presentation given by a news editor a few weeks ago. During the question time I mentioned how every time I deal with news reporters they ALWAYS screw stuff up and make things up when they don’t know the real answer. The response was that it was MY fault for not ensuring they had all the facts … I didn’t agree ” title=”Tongue” />
August 23, 2009 at 9:00 am #13141KyleMemberThat’s better. Good game. Even better with the win.
August 23, 2009 at 9:00 am #13142imported_RyanMemberAnd the score from tonight for those of you who missed it was 5 to 6 to New Zealand. Awesome game!
There was a shootout at the end which I’m assuming was to decide the winner of the series. NZ cleaned up ” title=”Cheesy” />
Did anyone record the TV footage? I’d love a copy of it if possible.
August 23, 2009 at 9:37 am #13143Rhys MMemberWe all know how the paper is, no matter how corect the facts are you that you give them, generally 99 times outa 100 something is misreported! I know ive been misqouted by the paper many times in my line of voluntteer work as a surflifesaver!
best way to ensure you get the most accuarte story is take notes of what you said and ask to see a proof of the final copy before it goes to press, if all else fails pass the bukc to someone futher up the ladder!
August 23, 2009 at 9:45 am #13144imported_RyanMemberOops, Kara just pointed out that the score was 4-5 not 5-6 like I said above.
August 23, 2009 at 9:55 am #13145ActiveMemberThat was a pretty exciting game to watch and the crowd getting in behind the team was great to see. In case you didnt know it Australia requested a shoot out to determine who won the series which NZ obliged by creaming them 2 nil via Eden & Spiers. It was a great advertisment for the game and hopefully came accross on sky well

August 23, 2009 at 9:41 pm #13147KyleMemberFantastic second game. Man of the match must be Zak Nothling. He looked a little out of sorts for the first half of the first period, but played really good after that. We were sitting right behind him and he made umpteen highlight saves by stacking the pads across and having good reactions. Made the win possible.
Good overall effort from the skaters. Paris Heyd looked really good out there and should be in the team from now on one suspects. Look for him to be getting lots of ice time come April in Div II. His linemates Eaden and Soffer looked good. Couple of heartstopping moments from the NZ D in front of their own net in the second period but it all came good in the end.
Was a little confusing being in the rink trying to figure out what the penalty shootout was for until we figured it must be the series decider.

2000 strong crowd. Heh.
Cory Down announces his retirement after the match. Respect.

August 23, 2009 at 10:48 pm #13150TomMemberIt sounds like NZ will be missing alot of key defence next year.
August 23, 2009 at 10:56 pm #13151Azzy77ModeratorWay to be the Downer (no pun intended) Tom.
But yeah. Both Corey and Maru (Stacey) are stepping down form IB’s.
August 23, 2009 at 11:00 pm #13152TomMemberYeah i got told of another aswell.
August 24, 2009 at 12:27 am #13153Rhys MMemberyeah same
anyhow it was a good as game to watch, shame there really wasnt a atmosphere in the crowd untill the end really, unlike worlds but I alos think we were missing some key members of the team that start the atmosphere such as Devin “mad dog” Williams
