    I’m picking two further splits. Two topsy turvy games in Auckland – neither close.

    Devils to win first up in Dunedin by a fair margin, Thunder to come back with a close win in the second, with some fantastic lining on display.

    NZJEL to not even be close – Southern to take both in Dunedin by at least four goals over Canterbury.

    Matt Canaday played the first game.  Justin started the second and was pulled about 5 mins into the 2nd after 3 goals.  Matt came in at that stage.

    I’m doing pretty good – Canterbury win first by 3 goals. Thunder win the second 7-6 in the 12th round of the penalty shootout. Southern win both U16 games.

    Stampede beat swarm 6-4 in the first, anyone heard the result of the 2nd?

    Next week, Stampede to win the double at home against Admirals. Thunder to split with Swarm.

    JELs are in Qtown vs Auckland. That’s going to be damn hard, but I think they’ll get up in OT in one of the games.

    thunder need to learn the shootout rules, premature celebrations when there was still one shooter to go from the devils is so brutal, makes this league look like a gong show!

    Haha, yeah I am not sure where that celebration came from, although said shooter scored on his attempt and there were still 3 shooters after that premature celebration I believe. So no harm no foul.

    I guess since Red Devils only used Eaden (1-6) for their shootout though, there was only one shooter from Red Devils left. (Although I think Jacques took the last shot which seemed like a strange decision.)

    IS the NZIHL running the same points system as last year?

    3 pts a win
    1 Point a tie in regulation
    1 point bonus for winning in OT

    does this mean in SO max points available is 3 to the winning team.

    3 points on offer each game.  3 for regulation win.  2 for overtime or shootout win.  1 for overtime or shootout loss
