MemberStampede beat Thunder 8-4 this evening in Queenstown. Couple of match penalties given for fighting.
Red Devils leading Admirals 7-1 after two periods in Auckland, looks like the final result was 9-2.

MemberNow I’m not sure about that Red Devils admirals result. Twitter from Gunther had the result at 9-2 to Devils, then his next tweet was a confirmed 8-2 to Admirals. The web site has 8-2 to Admirals so I presume that’s correct.

MemberHighlight video was pretty good. I enjoyed that.
Stampede won game 2 8-4 and I believe admirals beat up on the devils too. Not sure of the score.

MemberGames in Qtown were 2 of the best games of hockey i have ever seen. Hard fought hockey, amazing skill from both teams and an atmosphere that would be hard to be repeated. JP bertrand with 2 hattricks! Rick Parry outstanding in net and Gino still being the man

MemberWho got the match penalties Blake?

ModeratorUm. I presume it would be Hassan Saeed (Thunder) and
? Sommers (Stampede) for a good old fashioned hockey fight were both participants were willing, that cleaned the game up after it.Bert Haines must have been lucky to not get one, for punching Paris Heyd in the Head (sans gloves) while he was lying on the ice. Good work by the linesmen to watch this happening, meaning the Thunder players had to go in and pull him off, resulting in a 3rd man in penalty. Good work.

MemberHave they had the hearing yet? What did he get?
June 27, 2011 at 4:21 am #16686Azzy77
ModeratorRefs were Paul Scott and Chris Watson I think?
Um pass on the hearing question? I have no idea, I imagine if plod turns up at some point he might be able to shed some light on that issue?
It was the first real hockey fight I have ever seen in this country. It was needed because penalties were getting out of hand (not refs fault, had to call what he saw) this cleaned game up, and also gave Thunder a little energy they scored 3 goals after the fight…

MemberYea what was with the linesmen watching gino get assaulted on the ground, not stepping in to stop something as soon as they went down? but then getting in the middle of what was a much needed and clean punch up before it started? silly.
And what was with the tripping call on haines when he did what could only be described as an almost text book hip check on bertrand? i say almost as JP slipped the check.
Plod perhaps you in all your infinite wisdom may enlighten us?
