What a crock!
It means that a significant proportion of Southern Supporters won’t be able to make the trip without taking a day of work (or doing there job half ass on Monday)
It means the winning team can’t get blind drunk with there fans in celebration, because A/ they have to get on the road, or B/ they don’t have to get on the road, but they have work the next day.
It means the losing team can’t get blind drunk with there fans in comiseration, because A/ they have to get on the road, or B/ they don’t have to get on the road, but they have work the next day.
Can’t the Canterbury rink say okay for the final we will push public session back for half an hour.
Instead they say we are showcasing the best this country has to offer but sorry we have to cut it short, because lil Johhny has to feel up lil Susie in the dark corner of the public session to “I got a Feeling”. Are you kidding me!!Surely the Canterbury team should be irate as well, cos don’t they have to guarantee a certain revenue for the final, and surely hosting on a Sunday would cut down the numbers they can get into the ground. Me and Duncan for starters.
Stupid freaking Alpine Arena
September 1, 2009 at 1:16 am #14257vpatrolMemberAlpine ice is a business and they favor public skaters over ice hockey. Until a new rink with new ownership comes along, it will always be the same. Get used to it.
Revenue from the game won’t matter. We will get the same number of supporters on sunday as we will on saturday.
Canterbury will get blindingly drunk regardless of work the next day.
Even if we had control of the rink, I don’t think we would care too much about Southern supporters and their woes to be honest. More concerned about our own.
September 1, 2009 at 1:19 am #14258Azzy77ModeratorHonestly I don’t see why the rink can’t push Johnny and Susie heavy petting session back 30 mins, go 30 mintues longer at the end.
For one weekend? one freaking weekend!!
September 1, 2009 at 1:21 am #14259imported_RyanMemberI can’t see any way around this. The rink is there to make a profit. Apparently public skaters pay more money than a bunch of NZIHL game watchers and so logically they’ve given the public skaters the best ice time. Not much you can do about that really except improve the revenue for the rink somehow, but that would likely cost the team/league too much.
It’s also likely the rink will be filled out on Sunday anyway, so there isn’t much benefit to the rink in moving to Saturday even if it does make them more money as they’ll presumably make just as much on Sunday.
September 1, 2009 at 1:30 am #14260Azzy77ModeratorWell it makes a mockery of the final of our sport, when you can’t host the final on the night it should be hosted.
Um yeah Sorry there Richie Mccaw you guys want to play the game on Sunday, cos lil Johhny has to feel up lil Susie in Jade Stadium on Saturday to the Grease Megamix.
Honestly I don’t see the problem you shift the Public session by 30 minutes you don’t lose revenue. By the time you get people skates, and hot dogs and chips its 30 minutes before they are on the ice anyway.
I know ChCh public session get full, but honestly the first 30 min, would be warmup period anyway. Like the start of a party when people are drifting in.The advantage of winning round robin, is you get home ice, not that none of the opposition fans can come watch because its logistically unpossible.
I mean I guess I am just mad because I don’t get to see it. But to me it seems stupid
September 1, 2009 at 1:48 am #14261vpatrolMemberhome crowd advantage. Not home ice although I would rather play on chch ice than qtown. Our lights illuminate and we have boards.
if skaters make more money than hockey, why would the rink give a toss about the day we want?
September 1, 2009 at 2:53 am #14262ActiveMemberThis topic is mainly about you not going because you have to work on Sunday isnt it Azzy, Its nothing to do with Suzie and Jonnie. If only people were more carefull to plan around your commitments Azz; everyones life would be much better.
September 1, 2009 at 3:05 am #14263vpatrolMemberboohoo, queenstown supporters can’t make it down to our rink to support the other team. ” title=”Wink” />
September 1, 2009 at 3:07 am #14264Azzy77ModeratorI have to work Monday.
But Honestly Active its the knock on effect on Susie and Johnnie.
I mean there they are heavy petting at the ice rink in the corner, the disco finishes at 10.30 so they decide to take it to the next level, and next thing you know you are dealing with teenage pregnancy and STI’s. Johnie and Susie will have to leave school and take menial jobs. They will never go to their high school prom, something Susie will resent Johnnie for. Johnnie will resent Susie, when his mates are getting wasted at uni and he is looking after the baby. Johnie will leave Susie eventually and everyones lives would have been ruined. If you push the public session back 30 minutes to an hour, lil Susie parents would have expected her home by now, so will pick her up from the rink, before Johny could have his evil way. No babies, No STI’s, no ruining of lives
I am sick of no one thinking of the Children. Won’t someone please think of the Children.
And Azzy, no one ever thinks about Azzy.
September 1, 2009 at 3:11 am #14265vpatrolMemberlittle did johnnie knows but suzie met Tommy on the way to the toilet. She’s had a thing for him since ice skating 07. Poor Johnnie.
September 1, 2009 at 3:13 am #14266vpatrolMemberhowever by keeping all the southerners away from the rink, we are keeping mom and dad in the same area. You otago sailors can’t jump ship back home and leave poor suzie on her own and we keep the spread of any viruses contained although we know full well you brought it here.
September 1, 2009 at 3:19 am #14267ActiveMemberwow its amazing how lifes complexities are so intertwined with wether or not ice hockey is played on sunday
September 1, 2009 at 3:20 am #14268Azzy77ModeratorThose are wild and spurilous accusations Vince, and most people I think who would attend the final would no longer be teenagers and are in a position to support an illegitimate child.
See now because of the refusal to have the game on Saturday night, and move the public session, You are making sure both the parents are teenagers.
Lil Johnie is stuck raising a baby that is not even his, and eventually he will end up on Maury or Jerry Springer, and have to do a paternity test in front of all of america, and be embarrassed after he boldly proclaimed he was definitely the father to Tommy.
Then he will break down on national tv, sending his life into a downward spiral of alcohol abuse, eventually leading him to hit the P pipe, He has to prostitute himself to keep up with this costly habit.
Why must the Alpine Ice Arena ruin peoples lives like this? Why ? WHY??
September 1, 2009 at 3:23 am #14269vpatrolMemberprostitutes make good money nowadays. Being forced into the business world will bode well for his future and the future of his young family. Nobody reads Romeo and Juliet anymore. Where has young love gone.
Plus what shinanigans would they be getting into if it wasn’t for sunday hockey? Church? Do you have any idea what those Catholic girls are like? Frankly the Red Devils are doing christianity a favour!
September 1, 2009 at 3:37 am #14270cowgirlMemberSurely at the beginning of the season the NZIHL should’ve penciled in a booking for Saturday 5th September in every centre just in case that team was to be hosting the final!
We had a booking penciled in here and I’d be surprised if Botany didn’t have one also (we can all dream!).I think a Sunday final is a bit of a slap in the face but it won’t stop us going up for it, we’ll just have a 3 day weekend ” title=”Grin” />
