What is going to happen, it is exciting that all games have something riding on them.
The Red Devils play the 1-win admiral team, and the Stampede play the 3 + 2 win Thunder side.
The Stampede have arguably the tougher assignment, however the Stampede are coming off a remarkable run where they have won 4 games on the trot to put them selves in contention for the final. Meaning the ask to take a game off them is a tall one for the Thunder especially down starter Rick Parry. On the other side the Red Devils are coming off two losses to the Stampede (in what is becoming their traditional end of season wobbles), with their number 1 goalie flown the coup to Kazakhstan, their number 2 goalie this season sitting out one game due to a brain explosion in Queenstown. Hayden Argyle a talented hard hitting D-man sitting out both games for leaving the penalty box to join a fight, and their leading goal scorer Chris Eaden sitting out ?1? game as well.
Is this the weekend the Admirals pick up their second win, despite their record the Admirals aren’t a terrible team and could conceivably pick up a win if they put it together. What will happen. I am so excite!!!
August 5, 2011 at 3:45 am #17139KyleMemberIf Canterbury don’t make it – either through Stampede taking 6 points off Thunder, or them losing some points to Admirals, they’re going to look back on a disasterous weekend in Queenstown – zero points, several players banned – as the moment where their season died.
If Stampede miss out, they’re going to look back to a slow start I suspect, and maybe a home game vs Thunder that they’ll feel they should have got.

August 6, 2011 at 3:46 am #17142Azzy77ModeratorI am concerned that my (atrocious) statistics caused you to fight and smash cameras in Queenstown.
In future I suggest you take more care when you look at statistics.August 6, 2011 at 4:29 am #17143KyleMember"Azzy77":280vcpbf wrote:In future I suggest you take more care when you look at statistics.
[/quote:280vcpbf]Focusing more on stopping the pucks going into the net you reckon Aaron? Interesting theory…
August 6, 2011 at 7:47 am #17144vpatrolMemberdevils win 7-2. 3rd choice goalie did his job and didn’t lose it for the team. Kyle Papai scored a hat trick and Ryan Bahl put in two. Eaden is back tomorrow as is Findlay. Doesn’t look good for the Admirals.
Best wishes go out to the Thunder! ” title=”Smiley” />
August 6, 2011 at 8:19 am #17145vpatrolMemberthunder down 4-2 after second roughly
August 6, 2011 at 9:32 am #17146vpatrolMember5-3 stampede win
August 6, 2011 at 11:40 am #17147KyleMemberReasonably good game in Dunedin. Thunder didn’t look very good in the first, but came out firing properly in the 2nd and 3rd. Stampede shot better than Thunder I thought – too many pucks firing into Aston’s ready pads.
August 6, 2011 at 11:31 pm #17148vpatrolMemberIs it a coincidence that the oldest goalie in the league has the best stats (Swirtz) followed closely by the second oldest goalie. Not saying anything but just saying. Funny they have the same accent too. Just sayin.
August 7, 2011 at 2:40 am #17149KyleMemberBig 8 minutes of game time though.
August 7, 2011 at 8:05 am #17150vpatrolMember12 i believe it was. 50% more then your number
August 7, 2011 at 12:08 pm #17151vpatrolMemberdevils win 9-5. Eaden gets a hat trick. Stampede win 8-4. They get a final. Well deserved. Hopefully the trophy will head back to the south island.
August 7, 2011 at 8:15 pm #17152KyleMemberNope, definitely 8:
