I was just wondering who writes these as the differences in them are huge, I believe it is the home team’s manager who writes these but I’m not 100%
some are well informed reports others seem like they have been written 2 or 3 days later with little to no detail.
If these are the media releases for the league and therefore advertising the league and the games within, they should get someone with a background knowledge of sports writing or the league should tell the writers of these reports to include more details and make the reports more appealing and reader friendly

But yes, the quality varies.
July 2, 2010 at 1:25 am #15886imported_RyanMemberI suspect the problem is with finding appropriate volunteers to do the job. Some people just plain suck at writing and others simply aren’t willing to spare their free time to chase up information just to write up articles about events.
I think making the raw stats available might help a little as you could at least use that to get an accurate idea of what’s going on. I used to do that a lot with the Dunedin Ice Hockey League reports if I didn’t attend the game. You can take a pretty good guess as to what happened if you have the official game stats and a few tidbits of information from spectators about what happened. Reports from those who attended would be a lot better, but that’s not always possible.

Not an awesome message when trying to promote your flagship league to the country and around the world. I’m also not very keen on the skewed angle that gets put on them either. It’s not as bad this year as years gone by though. I think it should be impartial like you would read on TSN or ESPN etc. That’s just me and my humble opinion.
July 2, 2010 at 4:57 am #15888KyleMemberFull stats should definitely be available on the web site. Australian league does this, gives you a feeling for the game.
July 2, 2010 at 5:06 am #15889jamrockMemberfull stats are available just click on the 2010 results title in yellow at the top of the page:

nice to see we are in some sort of agreement about the quality variation though i thought I was the only one who noticed.
And the bias is clearly evident within some of them which does not look good either since its a national league site not a team site

Here’s a direct download link for it:
