what about giving a team a 5-3 instead of a 5-4? Can the ref change that rule on the fly?

What do you mean?reffing was rather dreadful, paul scott did his usual making up calls because he is a douche bag who just wants to be seen to be king dick. ie; a charging penalty when the guy who made the hit was within 3 steps of the person being hit. it made a noise so clearly had to be a penalty. or how about when a thunder defenseman pushed a guy over, hand in the chest, when the guy had the puck in front of the net, call i believe was roughing. where does this guy get off? it wasnt just the thunder bad calls were made against, the swarm had their fair share of bad calls against them too, ie; an off side (which wasnt off side by the way) when they had a clear shot at net. whats this about? one player had the puck, carried it across blue line, thunder defenseman made a poke check, puck went to trailing swarm foward, who was onside, then the whistle blew for offside… terrible
August 3, 2010 at 1:14 am #16105vpatrolMemberHeard thunder had 2 in the box and swarm had 1. A 5-3 was given and partly played until a complaint was heard and the right call was made, being a 5-4. There’s some extra seats in a year 9 maths class I often teach if these guys want to sit in for a bit. No charge.
August 3, 2010 at 1:41 am #16106Azzy77ModeratorThe Confusion arose, since thunder already had two in the box, when co-incidental penalties were given. Meaning the should have remained at 5-3 for the remaining 8 seconds of first thunder penalty, however when this had expired we were told we were still at 3 men….
We played like this for a minute before one of the off-ice officials told us we should have had 4 men on….It wasn’t an easy mistake, but certainly an avoidable one.

RED BULL Shots, must of been a couple of dozen emptys left laying around. might of given them the edge on the thunderAugust 4, 2010 at 8:26 am #16108KyleMember"thirteen":1ummwwx4 wrote:ie; an off side (which wasnt off side by the way) when they had a clear shot at net. whats this about? one player had the puck, carried it across blue line, thunder defenseman made a poke check, puck went to trailing swarm foward, who was onside, then the whistle blew for offside… terrible
[/quote:1ummwwx4]I was in the swarm penalty box when this call was made and the swarm coach was telling his players to shut up, that it was clearly offside. He said [in that great accent] “shut up already! It was clearly a mile offside.”
It was good to see a coach telling his players not to bitch about referees. While I fully understand that players get unhappy about what is either a mistake, or that they think is a mistake, bitching about the referees is a terrible tactic. It’s never going to help your team, and possibly it will hurt it.
Thunder has got good value this season out of Lenstra talking to referees in a positive way and trying to get their concerns across.
