    Any suggestions for the sidebar?

    The photos are pulled from the official NZIHF photo feed, so will be updated as new photos are added to that feed. Currently it will display non-NZIHL photos if they’re posted, but we could easily ask Peter Idoine (NZIHF photographer) to tag photos with “NZIHL” so we could only display those in the sidebar.


    @Vpatrol     – any chance you were keen to take up my request to shunt content over? <img decoding=” title=”Smiley” />

    ….i can probably do a bit of work when i find time to interupt my laziness at the present moment.  might not be this week though.  Some red devils goalies did the dirty on me and left for kazakhstan for pro pastures and also decided suspension was cool.  So my dusty self has to prepare for some games this weekend.

    I don’t think there’s any hurry. Some time within the next few months is probably good enough.

    If you send me the email address you registered for WordPress.com with, then I’ll set you up with admin login details for that test site.

    according to nzihl website, the final was yesterday at 5pm.  Anyone catch the game?  Was it good?

    Well hopefully we can solve these issues for the 2011 season. I think Cowgirl is working on a banner for the site. Then all we need to do is decide on what goes in the sidebar, shunt the content over and we have a fully functioning website to show them.

    It’ll be pretty handy if they use it, so that we can have a collection of people ready and willing to keep it updated.

    If the NZIHL doesn’t want it, then perhaps the NZIHF might. Their site is better maintained obviously, but might help to have it running on an easier to use platform so that more people can contribute to it. Plus they’d save a few dollars in hosting each year.

    the whole point is to have a legitimate nzihl website that is always current, and can be used as a tool to market the league to fans and especially to sponsors.  Being a league run by volunteers, the website volunteers haven’t been up to standards for whatever reason.  Having a good unofficial one and a stink official one does the league no good whatsoever.

    yea but no one will no which is the official and which is the un official? especially if the unofficial is better than the official, you can still throw the sponsors logo on the website, to hell with TM and copyright laws, make it look official and then itl end up becoming official

    If the NZIHL refused to allow it initially, I spose that could be done temporarily to prove that it’s a sound concept I suppose. I don’t think we’d struggle to get news items posted to it. There’s plenty of people around here who’d be happy to contribute to the site I think.

    It would certainly be better to have something official IMO though.

    I think it’s helpful in general to have an unofficial site of some sort available for people to vent, discuss things etc. that perhaps wouldn’t be allowed within official channels. But  SlapShot.net.nz already fills that void pretty well I think.
