Here’s a copy of an email I sent out a few minutes ago. I’ve run out of time to get this out to most people, so please pass this information on to anyone you think may be interested in attending.
Ryan,
Hi everyone,
I meant to send this email on Saturday, but I’ve been run off my feet busy and had’t gotten to it till now. Today (Tuesday) there is an off-ice (inline hockey) practice session at the Caledonian gymnasium at 8:30pm.Required equipment is:
Inline skates – no sticky outty bolts which can scratch the floor
Helmet
Shin guards
Elbow pads
and a hockey stick (duh!)
Some equipment is available to borrow at the gymThe Caledonian gymnasium is beside The Warehouse and Pak ‘n’ Save in South Dunedin. It has a very nice polished wooden surface which is super grippy and the pucks slide nicely on it. If you need better directions then email me back asap.
I haven’t fixed a price as yet but it will cost atleast $5 for an hour. Eventually I plan to get Jenel Bode in as a professional coach for it, but I doubt we’ll have the numbers tomorrow night to justify paying her yet. Hopefully in a week or so’s time we’ll have enough though. In the mean time we can all get the chance to practice our puck handling skills.
Goalie equipment will be available for anyone wanting to hop in net.
It seems I screwed up the schedule on the website and put it on Wednesday, so apologies if anyone read that and was intending to come on Wednesday ” title=”Sad” /> This session will need to move eventually though as it clashes with the DIHL A-grade. I’ll let you all know once I know more on this.
cheers,
RyanPS: Please pass this on to anyone you think would like to come join in. I’ve only sent this to a select bunch as I’m a bit disorganised at the moment.
April 2, 2007 at 1:22 pm #2942KyleMemberDoes anyone have any decent inline pucks? Like there’s a bunch of nasty ones there I think (it’s been a couple of years since I’ve been into the gear), but it’d be nice to have a few nice ones if anyone had them.
April 2, 2007 at 8:34 pm #2943TomMemberIs there an age limit on this ??
April 2, 2007 at 9:12 pm #2944KyleMemberI’ll presume to speak for Ryan and say “no age limit”. People should be able to play hockey and have a pair of inline skates. You’d be fine to turn up Tom.
April 3, 2007 at 12:38 am #2945imported_RyanMemberYep, all are welcome ” title=”Smiley” />
April 3, 2007 at 7:32 am #2946MichaelMembersadly I have no wheels
April 3, 2007 at 7:37 am #2947imported_RyanMemberPost your shoe/skate size and we may be able to help. There’s some spare roller hockey skates lying round that I know of which may suit.
Ryan,
April 3, 2007 at 11:39 am #2948KyleMemberThere’s about 20 sets of skates there. In fact, apart from the fact that the sticks there are crappy, we can equip someone better than the ice rink, but we have much smaller amounts of gear.
April 4, 2007 at 5:44 am #2949MichaelMemberIm size 7-9ish
April 4, 2007 at 7:31 am #2950KyleMemberYeah there’s skates there that would fit you.
They’re not very good skates, but they’re inline skates so they’re better than the junk you’d get at kmart etc.
April 4, 2007 at 8:13 am #2951MichaelMemberok ill come along next time.
April 10, 2007 at 4:15 am #2952TomMemberEvery one still up for inline tonight?
April 10, 2007 at 4:31 am #2953KyleMemberNo it’s not on tonight. I’m not sure when Ryan is going to organise another one.
April 10, 2007 at 5:07 am #2954MichaelMemberEh? Ryan said last night it was on?
April 10, 2007 at 5:10 am #2955TomMemberI was looking foward to that
