Phil Pielak-Jones is talking about installing a radar gun for measuring shot speed

Thanks I’d been trying to find out what that thing was called for ages.

Can we use the shooting gallery yet??

    #2514

No idea, you’ll need to ask Hans. I’m not sure where he’s at with it and I haven’t seen him for ages. It would be nice to have this up and running soon, I was planning to have it built by now.

If I remember I’ll hit him up about it tonight if he’s there.

My son’s lining himself up to be a goalie, but he needs a lot of practice, so I realised last night that this would be ideal for me to fire pucks at him for a time in his rollerblades.

Hans talked to me last night, he’s planning to work on it over the next few days. He wants more lights from me so fingers crossed I can get a few more! We’ve got 6x 55 W fluorescent bulbs up there at the moment (330 W total) and he wants 12, so that’d be 660 W total, should be enough to keep it nice and bright At the very least there’s still the three original ones up there so that’d be 495 W total.

went up and had a look at the developments. Very dark as had no idea if there were lights or how to turn them on, but looks rather cool! Have any decisions been made about what type of flooring is going to be put down?

The concrete that is there currently at this stage. Painting the floor will cost at least $700, probably more. There is an outside possibility we may get it painted for us but I wouldn’t hold your breathe. Besides, the concrete should do the trick in the mean time.

Anything fancier than that will need to wait a while, unlikely to be this year.

Hans is now talking about installing a pay as you go system for the lights. So you’d chuck a dollar in for 30 mins lights or something like that. Some money would go to the DIHA, some to the rink. Essentially just a way to generate some money, as the cost to run the lights will be almost zero.

I’ve been down at the rink the last couple of days helping Hans with the shooting gallery. We have three banks of lights installed and should have all the netting done by some time tomorrow. James Van L. is doing the reinforcing of the boards and he started on that today as well. It shouldn’t be to much longer and the gallery will be operational. I think it’s going to be a real asset to the club and I’m looking forward to using it myself.

Hey i think all power to Joe for helping out eh!! big thumbs up. It will be nice to have somewhere dedicated to work on our shooting though. Really looking forward to this being finished.

Bode stopped by before and said it’s apparently almost done Just needs a netting ceiling and some other minor stuff

I’m most looking forward to using it for puck handling drills actually. Some nice smooth indoor concrete will do nicely for that thank you

Either that or wear skate guards and only practice shooting and puck handling from a stand still.
