Red Devils shuffled their lines to start with and didn’t play a wide open game like previous night.  They didn’t give up the neutral zone and crashed the crease with numbers.  2-0 after the 1st.  The refs were very whistle happy to put their stamp on the game early.  It really slowed the game down.

2nd period was a grinder period.  Neither team really giving up much.  The Admirals Greg Davis had a great game in net for the Admirals.  Justin wasn’t tested much in the first half but still had some good saves.  Some great hits.  Nick D’Onofrio clobbered Huish in the corner but to his credit, he got up quickly and put a solid hit back on Nick in the other end.

More marginal calls against both teams in the 3rd.  I couldn’t see any consistency on what was called and what wasn’t.  Lot of missed calls and calls that should never of happened.  After the Admirals scored to bring it within one, the Devils scored a PK goal.

Defensive lapses allowed the Admirals to gain space in the Devils zone and the scored two very quick goals to tie it at three a piece.  A Devils timeout was called to settle the ship but a 4th Admirals goal happened that was very similar to the previous two.  With only 2 minutes left, the game started to get chippy with penalties going against the Devils.  Harrop was given 10 for a misconduct (chirping ref), Eaden was later given a penalty for roughing (I think it was after the whistle) and then after pulling the goalie for a faceoff in the Admirals end with under 20 seconds to go, the Devils fielded 6 players instead of 5.  A too many men call and the subsequent face off in the Devils end killed any chance of salvaging a tie and forcing OT.

Both teams shook hands with no incident. <img decoding=” title=”Smiley” />  I’m guessing the Devils can’t wait to play the Thunder!
