Thunder played better to be honest.  They capitalized on our lazy mistakes and scored 3 nice goals.  Give me a second chance on them and 2 would still be goals.  Defensively they have much to be desired.  They just don’t have a system that suits the players they have.  You don’t attempt to build a skyscraper with only a couple hammers.  I’m sure there is a style of play out there which would minimize the damage teams can do to them.  I don’t want to see them getting smashed anymore.

Yeah another blow out game! For the second day in a row I have seen members in the crowd more excited over their books than the on-ice action.

Man Thunder need some imports and best of all physically bigger players to keep out the trash from clouding up the goalies personal space. Both teams were guilty of leaving the extra man open on the far post.

Dumbass award goes to 27 Jordane Fazende for screwing up his penalty shot before the end of the first period. Drawing the puck back through his legs to flip it around over his trailing leg manoeuvre, as the puck is no longer moving forward the resulting missed goal would have been disallowed (some kid pointed it out in the stand).

the ref mentioned that to me afterwards.  I found it amusing.  I didn’t expect him to use that move.  I think he was trying to have fun!

They may have played better but really two record scores in two nights is a bit over the top
as Vpatrol said people are more interested in their books than the game, that ain’t good! or maybe that just the Canterbury crowd?

Depends on how they do it. From the IIHF Case Book:

[quote:3h8hs142]1. During the course of the Penalty Shot (PS) or Game Winning Shots (GWS) where the player is using the Spin-O-Rama type move the Referee and Linesman shall focus on the following items:
    a. That a player is in a continuous movement toward the net while controlling the puck
    b. If the player and the puck stops continuous movement towards the net PS is completed
    c. If the player contacts goalkeeper before the puck enters the net, the PS is completed. No goal shall be allowed[/quote:3h8hs142]

The puck is allowed to go back, as long as the player continues to go forward.  You can pull the puck backwards, as long as you continue to skate forwards while doing it. Also see this one:

    [quote:3h8hs142]Situation 1
A player taking a Penalty Shot loses control of the puck or over-skates with it while attempting his shot on goal.
Ruling: The player is allowed to go back and retrieve the puck if he loses control of it or over-skates with it as long as the puck is moving towards the opponent’s goal net.[/quote:3h8hs142]

Puck still travelling forward. I would have given up on that penalty shot.

The puck moved backwards through his legs while at a virtual standstill.  I guess his own movement would be in question because the puck was definately not moving forward.

That’s really to bad.  Everyone believed there was lots of promise for the team at the start of the year and in all honesty I think there was.  At least could have beaten the admirals 4 games I think if the team was actually run properly and a few solid players actually stayed on the team.  Damion and Dane would have been great additions for the team defensively and offensively.  Good on the guys though for sticken it out all through all those games.  Seriously not enjoyable getting throttled like that.
