I know this is early in the season but right now I’m getting a little frustrated with the numbers. Now I have no problem with running the open grade trainings till Bode gets back but I’m starting to get a little pissed off when only 5 people show up. For 2 weeks now there have only been about 5-8 people and that’s not enough to run a proper practice. I also noticed that Larry had about the same number tonight with his SNC training. For me personally, I’m not going to bother if only 5 people show up next week, I’ll just go home. This is ice time that you are paying for, bloody well use it. It’s not fair for the other players who want to be there to train and we just end up dicking around and playing a few small area games. It’s not fun and it gets boring. I understand if something comes up, but you know, we are all adults here or at least old and ugly enough to let people know before hand if you are not going to be there. If there aren’t numbers then we can cancel the training for the night. EMail, txt, facebook, bebo, hell even on here wold all be sufficient ways of communication. Sorry to Kyle and rest who turned up, but there’s not a lot you can do with so few people.
March 13, 2008 at 11:23 am #8089ChrisMemberApologies for not turning up tonight Ryan. I got held up much, much later than I thought I was going to be. The amount of time I’m spending at Uni these days is beyond insane.
Will let you know in advance next time :S
March 13, 2008 at 8:17 pm #8090KyleMemberYeah. Cheers to Ryan, and Larry, and Stefan for taking trainings while we await Bode’s return. Last night was kinda crud – we split the trainings because we had 34 people at the first one, now 20 of those people have stopped coming. There’s a fair few open grade players who are registered for the team but didn’t show last night. There were two Beasts out of their whole team at one of the two practices. The managers for either practice weren’t there.
Like Ryan said, everyone is paying for these practices, so not turning up doesn’t make much sense, unless you’ve got a heap of money floating around that you aren’t attached to.
March 13, 2008 at 11:57 pm #8091CrashMemberMy bad I am sick and was in bed asleep. Thats the only problem about teaching 1st years you pick up there stupid colds that they get for staying out late drinking.

[/quote:3cxrganm]Yep, that’s true. The corollary of this, therefore, is that if people aren’t turning up then there’s a good reason for it.
March 14, 2008 at 6:12 am #8093battered_and_bruisedMemberWell Like I said, I know people have reasons and they are probably god ones, but seriously it’s a waste of time as coming down to coach 5 people. If people let me know, then I can make the call whether to nix training or not. I mean it’s not a lot to ask for.

[/quote:2b4h88a1]Yep, I totally see where you’re coming from there Ryan. It never even crossed my mind that my lack of attendance might inconvenience others. My bad, and I’ll be sure to let you know well in advance next time.
I know you and stef are giving up your own time to coach, and we do appreciate that.

[/quote:7e0cuon4]Well if people aren’t going to turn up, they need to tell the managers. Because if we need to rearrange the practices for some reason, then we can do that, but if people just don’t show one week, that tells us nothing.
March 19, 2008 at 10:43 pm #8096ChrisMemberRyan & Stefan,
Sorry guys, but I’m out again this week, and probably for the whole season, as I’m not going to be able to turn up regularly.
Playing on both wednesday and thursday isn’t really an option for me this year, as it turns out. I had no idea I would be this busy!!!!
Cheers guys
Chris

March 20, 2008 at 12:00 am #8098ActiveMemberDear Stefan And Ryan
Im really, really sorry but I wont be turning up neither cause my body hurts from last nite and Ive got more games to play over easter. Also the most pain would be inflicted by my spouse because I would always be away playing hockey and she doesnt like that, says something like “ice hockey widow” to me and frowns really really deeply.
lots of really really sincere apologies GrahamMarch 20, 2008 at 12:05 am #8099NickRMemberCallan and I WILL be there for the Open Grade Contact practice. So that’s two at least, though I cant speak on behalf of the rest of the Beasts.
We’re also likely to turn up early in the (vain?) hope of getting our skates sharpened.
