May 13, 2009 at 12:58 am #11174Defense101MemberLooks like my wings are doing what they do best winning STANLEY CUPS!
May 13, 2009 at 3:40 am #11175rookie19MemberYes Kyle, you are right… but who makes a 19 year old a Captain in the NHL? Do you think the veterans on the team like Gonchar listen to his motivational speeches before the game? Hes just a marketing tool..
Game 7 tomorrow! Bragging rights between me and Tom for the next few months at least..
May 13, 2009 at 4:40 am #11176KyleMemberCrosby turned down the captaincy throughout the regular season, despite being offered it several times.
I know very little about his motivational speeches, but he represents his team well to the media and is pretty upfront before and after the game.
About 10 times as well as Ovechkin, I’m sure hockey shows all over North America must be pulling their hair out at how difficult he is to interview during this marketing dream of a series. I saw his interview after game 2 the other night:
Q: So how about your goalie, he’s having a great postseason for a rookie?
A: I don’t want to talk about him, he’s not important.(I think he meant, I don’t want to talk about him, he’s in the zone, don’t want to mess him up, the team needs to focus on game 3, but at a glance it sounded terrible!)
May 14, 2009 at 12:28 am #11177battered_and_bruisedMemberI hate to break it to you Stefan but the Penguins are beating the hell out of the Caps at the moment. Late in the 2nd, it’s already 5-0. Tis a sad day. God I hope the Bruins can win and I won’t be down 0-2 in my predictions.
May 14, 2009 at 3:36 am #11178ActiveMemberThe Caps got thrashed and Crosby scored twice. The team must have listened to the pre game motivational speech by that marketing tool.
May 14, 2009 at 3:30 pm #11179battered_and_bruisedMemberTerrible. Just terrible.
May 14, 2009 at 11:40 pm #11180KyleMemberAnd my Ducks are heading into Joe Louis Arena for game 7, which would be a pretty big upset if they could pull it off. Still getting most of their scoring from their top line/#1 powerplay unit, and Hiller, after a couple of average games, big in game 6.
Understandably series is getting very tense, with G6 finishing with a wee to do involving Scott Neidermeyer.
(I will now ignore this forum for the next day or so in the hope I can watch the game tomorrow morning without knowing the result. Anyone who mentions the result at the coach training tonight, will feel my (rather insubstantial) wrath)

[/quote:3orbrwd6]Hell of a game and big series. I thought Ducks were going to steal it for a while there. Ducks lose it on the powerplay in that final game – unable to score on a couple of 5 on 3s, Red Wings were good but it’ll be interesting to see how they go against Chicago.

[/quote:1ob1ls2n]I’ll take experience over youth in a big series almost everytime. Detroit should take it in the end
