I have a request ” title=”Smiley” /> This is apparently possible, but I’m not sure how difficult is to implement.
It would be great to be able to output the stats, schedules, team rosters etc. directly to PDF so that they could be sent as emails, printed easily etc.
Ryan,
March 22, 2007 at 8:26 am #2657KyleMemberI would presume you’d be wanting to host them on an sql server so that the database outputs on the fly. so it’d have search fields, you could output the stats by player, team, season, goalies, etc etc.
I’d prefer that to making it static and only updated whenever someone pushed the button. 5 times more useful. Would mean that I could look at my stats for the tournament, year, career, etc.
March 23, 2007 at 12:03 am #2658imported_RyanMemberAnother point. I’m assuming this feature would come by default, but just incase. It would be good to include the ability to add stats for previous seasons/years. We still have the stats back to DIHL 2005, so we could add those as well. It would be particularly nice so people could see their career stats over the last few years, not just the ones from the seasons which have run since the new program was launched. Might take me a whole lot of number punching but it shouldn’t be too bad. Particularly since all the stats would be automatically calculated.

March 23, 2007 at 12:11 am #2659KyleMemberIf you have them in an excel spreadsheet, Michael might be able to tweak them in excel to make them importable as well.
March 23, 2007 at 12:23 am #2660Azzy77ModeratorSo is michael doing the stats for last week?
Cos it would be good if I don’t have to do them. But I can if you need me too, but earliest would be tonight, but let me know, cos if hes doing them will give me one less thing to think about
March 23, 2007 at 12:31 am #2661KyleMemberYeah, I should have checked with Michael about a timeline.
When he offered to do this I kinda presumed it would take a few weeks. Maybe in lieu of you setting something up for a fortnight or so Aaron, maybe for now we can just post the pdfs and then once Michael has his thing up and running you can add the data to it?
Michael?

No!!!! Its a nightmare to generate pdf’s with php, until someone finds me a html2pdf program your only getting html pages ” title=”Cheesy” />

Yup, no problem to import excel spreedsheets, just keep doing them that way for now.

It could be a couple of weeks if not months depending on the time I have to spend on it, Either way Ill get it working bit by bit and add features as there ready.
March 25, 2007 at 12:14 pm #2663KyleMemberRyan,
I’m not sure who did them, but the friendship stats – the last page with the penalty minutes, the totals are of days 1 and 2 only, not the whole row.
March 25, 2007 at 8:52 pm #2664imported_RyanMemberProbably my bad, I’ve been copying and pasting from Word docs that Joyce sends me. I’m guessing I forgot to copy and paste the most recent totals column, I’ll fix it tonight.
Ryan,March 26, 2007 at 1:12 pm #2665imported_RyanMemberThe worlds crudest mock up of what will be shown on screen for the stats program:
[url:v64qk6dz]http://www.dunedinicehockey.co.nz/temp/StatsProgramDraftInterface.doc[/url:v64qk6dz]Please let me know if you have any suggestions/potential improvements. The basic design is fairly similar to that of the software used at http://www.sncicehockey.com/.

March 27, 2007 at 7:48 am #2666MichaelMembersweet as Ryan, get some pages sorted and Ill start filling in the blanks, Once Thursday rocks around and the friendship games are over Ill be straight into it.
March 27, 2007 at 10:56 am #2667imported_RyanMemberIncase anyone’s interested, here’s a very crude mock-up of what the stats will look like. Feel free to recommend changes ” title=”Smiley” />

Ryan,
March 27, 2007 at 12:15 pm #2668ChrisMemberNice, I like it!
March 27, 2007 at 9:45 pm #2669KyleMemberI think it looks good.
In the schedule. It’d make sense to me to show the next X games – say 8 games, on this page. There should be a ‘more’ link which links to the complete schedule. Also a ‘previous’ button at the top which links to the complete schedule, but to an anchor at the top. The same with the six tables below – ‘complete list’ is needed as a link. In those complete lists, it’d be good to have ‘sort’ buttons at each column – so you can sort by name, team, points etc.
Also in the schedule, there should be a game number. Michael’s going to put a universal game number into the database, which will keep increasing as we add stats, but there should be a game number from 1 – X for each league which is in the schedule. So Sunday’s game Beasts vs Bears is game 3 in the DIHL B grade Autumn 2007. That number should link to a ‘game stats’ page, with the stats for that game. Michael, is it possible to get the system to put these in when the league is set up?
What about SHG and PPG? It might be possible, if times are put in for goals, to have the system pick these up automatically? That would also open up powerplay and short-handed percentages for games/teams, again, which would be good (this would require, across multiple games, penalties to list the non-offending team, I can’t remember if it does this Michael, but I guess you can get it from the game table).
March 28, 2007 at 12:10 am #2670ChrisMemberThe other thing to note is that my team (Beasts) are thinking about building our own website, with all the team info etc.
Would there be an easy way to directly import our player stats to the webpage without simply linking to dunedinicehockey.hellyer.kiwi?
