Memberlost 16-4. 11 to 1 after 1st period. Don’t want to talk about it.

MemberYeah, we were getting reports on our way back from Alexandra (SIHL SNC round). Was a bit scary hearing about 11-1 after the first period, so was glad to hear the final result wasn’t 3x that.
At least I hear you goalies let in roughly the same number of goals each, so you can’t be blamed

I wonder why the Red Devils did so much better on home turf. Perhaps the more familiar rink helped?

MemberI was 6 and Toby was 10. I let in my share pretty quickly though.

[/quote:25yllnvz]I heard 6-7 after the first period. I guess Toby let in a few more after that.

[/quote:14091kar]I was wondering that too. The team aren’t exactly short on goalie talent though, so perhaps they’re spreading the games around the goalies?

MemberThere’s three goalies, you can only dress two for a game. I suspect the coaches are still figuring out what the best matchups are all over the ice, including goalies.

ModeratorYeah goalies is a really interesting juggling act in any big team. ( this is a generalization of any team, if any of the characters resemble real life people its purely unintentional)
We are very fragile creatures so if we could play all the time without getting to injured and not getting lit up too much you would only want one, so you don’t have to shuffle them, and not hurt any ones ego by telling them they are not starting, or not dressing
But everyone has an off game, so you need a backup who can come off the bench and start cold and do a good job, he may not be flashy but he gets the job done, and occasionally for a minor injury you will need to switch
But the problem is with a reasonable amount of games and the level this is played at sometimes goalies go down for more then half a game, so you need a third goalie to allow for this eventuality …..
So managing three goalies is a tough proposition with players if they have bad couple shift you can bench him for the rest of the game, and drop him back to third line for next game so he can still get in the game and redeem himself…
If a goalie has a poor game, and remember no goal is ever a goalies fault so this is purely subjective, and you wish to bench him, either to second or third goalie, that goalie has no real way of forcing himself back in unless on of the others has a bad game (again subjectively) hence why goalies hate sitting out.I hope this insight into the goalies mind helps you…
