Having the Sponser as the biggest name on the Jersey in not uncommon in regional sporting competitions, see the examples.

Also All Blacks is kind of different look at the Springbok or Wallaby Jersey again plastered in advertising.

You guys are all entitled to your opinion, I just like to clarify my stance on the advertising on jerseys.

now take all of those logos and put them all on one shirt.  And then change the springbok color to something else.  Change the manchester united color to blue.  Wallaby to purple etc and see if there is any brand recognition anymore.  I bet you would see a massive drop in jersey sales.

Holy cow that’s cheap. Does that include practices?

LoL not to cheap for the students paying 6000$ for school Ryan.  Some even have to pay more cough* cough*

Exactly, but the Thunder don’t have a single sponsor as the biggest name, they have [b:uzelqgrl]LOTS[/b:uzelqgrl] of them. The jerseys you showed above looked professionally designed and had only their major sponsor displayed prominently. Hopefully other NZIHL teams don’t go down this path.

In comparison to the price to compete at Nationals for a single weekend, it is chump change.

I think nationals is a little different then the NZIHL although it is a national league.  I hope you weren’t referring to tuition fees as chump change because I might actually take offense to that.

No, just a reference to league costs.

Manchester uniteds away strip is Blue.

The warriors jerseys has more than one sponser.

I love it how people are all about brand recognition, the team has been around two years, it take teams longer than that to build a brand recognition.

it does take longer.  You can add a minimum of one year to Dunedin’s wait due to the sudden change of jerseys that will be far less recognizable than the jersey from year 1.

Might be worth mentioning that all the jerseys quoted are not hockey jerseys.  Thunder play hockey.  Different sport, different fans, different approach.

My point was all the Jerseys quoted are from sports people in NZ watch.
I am pretty sure if I started showing Hockey jerseys from outside North America they too would be covered in advertising

Is there a reason the NHL is the most popular hockey league in the world as far as marketing and merchandise sales?  I don’t see many HC Davos shirts in the shops.  As a person who has bought supporter jerseys in the past, I would be pretty disappointed when 3 years later, every logo on the jersey is irrelevent because all the sponsors have changed.  However the oilers jersey I bought in the early 90’s is still pretty current because of one important logo.  I’m pretty happy about that as a fan.

I don’t know if it’s because of the marketing that the NHL is so popular V.  It takes the best hockey players from around the world and was the first true professional hockey league in the world.  It has been around for decades and has established itself as the best league in the world.  So naturally they don’t need to recognize a dozen sponsors on their jerseys because that isn’t something the sponsors need in order to be recognized at that level.  Just having their fingers wet by being a part of the NHL is good enough for them.  Check out the french professional league.  See how many sponsors they have on their jerseys.

I am not sure if you should hold the NHL up as the bastion of consistent jerseys…

Canucks anyone?? How many variations have they had over the years including the beauty below
The Sabres have gone from blue to black with a logo change in the mean time.

The capitals used to have the dome thing now its a hockey stick.

In the NHL the teams jerseys change virtually seasonally.
