To Madam Amazing who knows everything about everyone.  Thanks for not thinking I was as horrible as you thought by the way.  Your opinion is enormous important to me.

Since I said Kyle wrote it in a unique manner, perhaps you can surmise that I would have written it in a more conventional and non-unique manner?  With that assumption in mind, maybe I’m not saying my version would have been awesome.  You two are pretty negative couple today.  Cripes!

Kyle one point of note is that the only NZ team to have success against the Australians was the U18 team from two years back, and a few of those boys are coming through now.

Zak Nothling, Chris Eaden, Jordan Challis, Dale harrop, Josh Hay, Lyle Idoine, Stefan Speck and Dan Nicholls all were members of the team that beat Australia 7-2

I think one will be a tie, IBs will take the other one. This is largely the same IB team that came together well at the world champs, and they’re playing a couple of sydney teams mashed together. A full strength Aussie team would be different.

If the IBs are within a goal at the beginning of the third I think they’ll win the game, they always finished strong at world champs as their work in the first two periods paid back. Parry to get a start.

I just want to point out how accurate my pick here was. Where’s my prize?

Ooooh, I’m not sure I’d call that an accurate pick. Parry did start though, right? <img decoding=” title=”Tongue” />

Just wondered what would’ve happened if Zak had started game 1?

No difference.  Zak stopped the puck but he was caught out of position many times.  It often amounted to nothing as Aus didn’t get any shots away.  On saturday, they did get those shots away.  I don’t think it would have mattered who would have played sat night.  Rick may have been able to win sunday had he played that one.  The IB’s as a whole played better on sunday and I think that was the difference.  It was a team effort and not an individual one.  Once again though, Zak stopped the puck.  He did his job but the rest of the guys did their jobs too.

Yeah I am going to agree with Vince on this one (possibly the first time this has happened in slapshot history)

I think the NZ defense played a lot better on the Sunday. In fact a couple of times they made stops for Zak. Also I thought that on the Saturday they let the far side winger get away too much meaning Rick had to face a lot of cross ice passes, which I don’t know Zak would have stopped had he been in net. Also on Saturday night the Aussies were getting away a lot of those chances on the sunday they let a few go begging, mostly due to the aggresivness of the Kiwi Defense

Bearing mind as I say this, I think Zak did play very well on Sunday and don’t want to take away from that, I just don’t see him starting on Saturday making a difference to the result.

I didn’t really get to see Saturday’s game very well, I was busy chasing my daughter around. The whole team played pretty different on Sunday though.

I thought Zak had a great game. A number of times I thought Australia was going to score (I was sitting right behind the NZ net in first and last periods) and he made great reaction saves stacking pads. Completely different style than Rick.

I suspect Roberto Luongo couldn’t have won that first game. Team just wasn’t there. It was noticeable that a couple of times Zak got caught out of goal players were diving to try and block shots or knock away pucks. Some real heart stoppers. That didn’t seem to happen as much on Saturday.

Roberto would have won because all the players would be saying “holy crap its Luongo!” and flubbing their shots.
