Posted: Oct 14 2005, 11:58 AMhaha would just like to know who the sad b$*&tard who chooses player of the week is, apparently i am deserving of the award this week, i suspect it may have been due to my applaudable efforts to skate as fast as i could into the goal/goalkeeper…twice, but where is the justice people? have i not suffered enough at the hands of insufficient stopping knowledge, and now i am to be lauded like a puppet in front of the masses? (7 members and counting) Is it not my fault that the simple physics involved in inline hockey happen to be completely unrelated to the mystique that is stopping at high speeds whilst strapped to ice skates? what is wrong with the world?
p.s anyone seen a right handed blue and white mission glove – i need it.

Posted: Oct 14 2005, 12:17 PMHaha, I am that sad bastard. It was a close run thing between you and Dominic Duquern, but your attempts at removing our goalie from the gene pool won out in the end.
The past three player of the weeks have been chosen by the people I happened to be driving home on the night. So no amazing decision panel or anything, it just goes to whoever happened to do something notable on the night. Fearlessly (or should that be stupidly?) taking out our goalie on multiple occasions definitely fits the bill.

Posted: Oct 14 2005, 01:39 PMhaha yea i guess i would have to agree with the “Stupidly” thing, i don’t think the goalie could quite comprehend why i found the crossbar so attractive, but i guess neither can i. Its not that i didn’t want to stop its just that my skates wouldn’t let me.

Posted: Oct 14 2005, 07:38 PMThose damn skates aye! Sometimes mine tell me that if i keep forgetting to dry it after the game, it will just one day refuse to stop for me too!!!!
I want new skates!, no but really, i do!!!

Posted: Oct 25 2005, 12:30 PMhehe, player of the week will be interesting this week, ESPECIALLY after all of ryans unfortunate luck! (need i mention getting drilled with the puck in the backside or getting hit in the neck with the puck WHILE SITTING ON THE BENCH!?!?!?).
or does that go to the individual that managed to hit you in the neck with it in the first place?

Posted: Oct 25 2005, 03:45 PMWait, someone opened up Ryan as a target for shooting at?
Why wasn’t this advertised more?

Posted: Mar 18 2006, 02:27 PMThe player of the week has been gone for a while as I ran out of people to award it to after the season wound down.
Does anyone want it back now that the DIHL is starting back up again? If so I need people to nominate someone each week for the award and I preferably need a photo of the person to post on the home page.
I might create a new page for the player/organiser of the week too so that we can look back and laugh at those either good enough or insane enough to win it in the past.
PS: Jon from the Bullfrogs needs to win it at some stage as he was due to win it last year repeatedly but kept missing out to someone else each time.

Posted: Mar 19 2006, 12:06 AMThat last bit will be particularly tricky, as he’s moving back to Canada for the semester.
I think someone who’s there the whole night should choose it, and if captains/managers want to nominate someone, they go badger them.
I’m not there all night this year, so I nominate Ryan to be person who chooses person of the week.

Posted: Apr 25 2006, 08:38 PMJonathan McColl has been nominated player of the week half a year late. This is coz there’s been no hockey on in Dunedin recently.
Also, there’s now a page (in construction) about all the previous player of the week’s. But I can’t remember who they all were last year. If you know of any I’ve missed then please post the names on here.
