[b:3lg2qtxu]Who is the better player?[/b:3lg2qtxu] The Russian Phenom’ Alexander the gr8, or Sidney Crosby who has been labelled “the next wayne gretzky”?
The best videos I have come across of each player: enjoy
(***[b:3lg2qtxu]I think Ovechkin is by far the better player, his skill and flare for the game is unmatched in the NHL!!)[/b:3lg2qtxu]

April 26, 2007 at 9:51 pm #3294TomMemberSidney Crosby he is the easily better than Ovechkin.
120 points at 19 years of age Crosby can see the ice like no one else he allways knows where the puck is going and his teammates will be and were his opponents are.April 27, 2007 at 2:16 am #3295JoeMemberCrosby.
Ovechkin puts on a better show but Crosby will win more games for his team.[img:1voz036x]http://PlanB.smugmug.com/photos/114117387-M.jpg[/img:1voz036x]

April 27, 2007 at 2:52 am #3298KyleMemberI don’t get to watch much NHL at all, so I couldn’t give a technical opinion.
My impression is that Crosby is seen as the most exciting player to enter the NHL in a fair while. Everyone’s talking about him, and he’s more inspiring for young people than anyone else. To me, when you’re talking about relatives between the very best, those are the things you look for. Wayne Gretzky, Michael Jordan, Jonah Lomu, Pele – they were all the biggest things their sport had seen, and they crossed boundaries between countries/professional teams etc. I think at the top level, that’s what you look for to distinguish between several ‘great’ players into the ‘legend’ territory.
Whether or not Crosby’s hype over Ovechkin is just because he’s Canadian, not Russian… who knows? Our NZ view of ice hockey is seen very much through a North American lens, Europeans might view the picture differently.

April 27, 2007 at 3:03 am #3300rookie19MemberCrosby is an amazing player, i wont argue with u on that, but i think he just does not have the flare and desire Ovechkin has.
Crosby’s team made the playoffs, Ovechkins didnt. Ovechkin really doesnt have backing on his team from anyone on the same level as him, whereas Crosby has the likes of Malkin, Staal, Recchi, Armstrong, and of course Gonchar (who is dynamo at the point providing Crosby with a large number of rebounds to pad the stats sheet).
They are both great players in their own way but sorry Tom, Ovechkin is the better player!!! Peace
April 27, 2007 at 3:08 am #3301KyleMemberHeh. Gotta love that ask a question, say what you think the answer is, and then tell someone who says the other answer that they’re wrong ” title=”Wink” /> Perhaps some sort of cunning voting system might be in order?
April 27, 2007 at 3:48 am #3302guestMemberHere’s what I see. Crosby is not only a goal scorer but also a fantastic set up man. He’s an over all player. Ovechkin, he is goal scoring and nothin more. He puts on a show and nothing more. So if you are looking at all aspects, then I would take Sid the Kid, afterall, he doesn’t wear some queer ass tinted or mirrored visor. Speaking of which, Doesn’t Rookie # 19 and Ryan (The fighting one) wear those kinds of visors? lol what a bunch of wannabes lol. I’m just joshin boys, but seriously why the mirrored and the tinted? Back on topic now, I’m actually going to change my mind and go outside the box and say Jarome Iginla lol.
April 27, 2007 at 5:18 am #3303rookie19MemberYea im trying to convert the Crosby lovers to the dark side!!! ” title=”Cool” /> And yes, i think the media has a lot to do with our impressions of players. As ice hockey is Canada’s game, I guess the belief is that their best player is better than the best player Russia can produce. That rivalry goes way back.
I just think Ovechkin has so much more talent and if he was with the penguins would play better than crosby if he was in washington. Theres just so many people making comparisons between the two players, I wondered what everyone thought?
Sorry if that came across as me telling Tom hes wrong, my bad. Hes right i guess when you look at Crosby on paper, Crosby puts up the numbers for sure. I think i simply like Ovy because of the fact that I like the faster flashy style of game the russian play. But then thats just my opinion.
Peace and Godbless Hockey,
STIFF ” title=”Cheesy” />April 27, 2007 at 7:11 am #3304TomMemberCrosby can set other players up Ovechkin can hit and that is the main difference They can both score but its just what you think is more important a player who can hit or player who can set you up. I’m not saying that Ovechkin can’t set other players up because he can he just can’t do it like Crosby can, Crosby has like a 6th sense when he is playing he always knows were his team is he seems to be able to send crisp pases to players without even looking for them.
Crosby also has better looking goals.April 27, 2007 at 8:34 am #3305KyleMemberIt’s like dueling youtube videos. I think Tom has walked all over you unless you’ve got something to counter that last one sorry Stefan.
April 27, 2007 at 10:25 pm #3306battered_and_bruisedMemberAh Steffy Pooh, unfortunatly you are fighting a losing battle my friend. Crosby is by far the better player and I’m not saying it because he’s Canadian. Ovechkin is a selfish player and he will never win the scoring title. Crosby in his second season has not only scored a back to back 100 point season but is also the youngest player to do so and on top of that, he’s the youngest player to win the scoring title. What has Ovechkin done? Other then the Calder, which you can only win ONCE. Crosby will keep winning awards and Ovechkin, well I don’t think he will. lol. Sorry to burst your bubble there but that’s the way it is. And as for the visors that were mentioned about me and Steffy Pooh, we wear them cause we are pretty and are trying to get up to Aaron’s standard of prettiness lol.
April 30, 2007 at 6:14 am #3307rookie19MemberWow, what a setup on that play by Crosby! 😯
Crosby is good, Ovechkin is great. Ovechkin was the Calder winner for a reason!! Washington, like Pittsburgh; will be a great team in the near future, as their young talent gains experience. Ovechkin has no one anywhere near his level in WSH (Alexander Semin probably being closest), but with some promising young prospects and an array of promising draft picks through some good strategic management, the team is going to be built around speed and skill, a factor becoming more and more important in todays NHL.Crosby has so much talent, but he just lacks the desire Ovechkin has. When Ovechkin scores he jumps around and celebrates which is awesome, his one goal in life was to make the NHL, which he has done. My opinion is that Ovechkin loves to play the game more than Crosby, and anyway, Crosby cant hit, so naturally hes going to get picked on:
